you do it for me
me and a ton of other people that watch him and realize how ready he is. It has nothing to do with saving face. What the Flyers care about is that a prospect "busts" it just results in the fans saying it happened because he wasn't ready
- YuenglingJagr
This statement is disqualifying and takes away any credibility in your ability to state that I do it for you.
No I can't and that is my point. I don't think AHL or NHL has as much of a long term difference as people make it seem. Good players will be good players. Patrick is clearly overmatched right now, but is that going to ruin his development. Sean Couturier...the guy who had his offensive development ruined by coming to the NHL too early, right? Did the extra NHL time clear up Ghost's "issues"?
- YuenglingJagr
I don't think that there is any question that if the AHL was available for Patrick that it would be the best play for him. Again, you try to make the same false comparisons. Every single player is different with regards to development. Gostisbehere was able to remain at the NHL level because of his elite puck and offensive skills and he is able to make an impact and play high minutes at the NHL level. None of what you state here has any bearing on Lindblom and how the Flyers are handling his development.
Let's not forget the actual proof we have of Scott Laughton coming to the NHL and then going back to the AHL once it was deemed necessary. Ruined?
- YuenglingJagr
We have what looks like actual proof that the Flyers were able to make the correct decisions and make Laughton into a player that could be a quality bottom 6 forward for the Flyers moving forward. Maybe that's a disappointment for being a first rounder but it's better than being a complete bust.
They aren't exclusive. The current state of the Flyers would leave them working in parallel actually. Other NHL ready prospects are playing in the NHL, so I guess they aren't developing? AHL isn't the only place that happens. - YuenglingJagr
That's wrong. Again, it is different for every player. Just because one player is capable of developing in the NHL doesn't mean that another player is. This is a basic fundamental of player development. Who has said that the AHL is the only place that development happens? That is another disingenuous comment. The AHL is in fact the premier professional development league in the hockey world. |

Not sure on the relevance but Dave Taylor drafted Kopitar, Brown, and Quick. Taylor credited the picks to Al Murray, former director of amateur scouting. Murray is now with the Lightning. |

Kopitar wasn't drafted by Lombardi actually
Lol yes all teams draft and develop players with certain variances. Saying there were players on the team that were drafted and developed proves what Ron Hextall is doing now is the same is asinine. The team was loaded with vets acquired through FA and trades. Not to mention none of it has anything to do with Lindblom spending a couple extra months in the AHL or not - YuenglingJagr
It's not asinine. What is asinine is comparing a team and a finished product with a team that is still in the early stages of development after Hextall took over and shifted the Flyers team development strategy. It's a process that takes years and the FA and trades part comes later down the road. Hextall in my opinion is not in a position where he should start looking at those avenues heavily until the team is further developed. |

Doesn't change that the core of the team was built through the draft.

Again...none of what the Kings did is proof that being extremely conservative with prospect development makes them better players at the NHL level during their prime. We don't need an essay on all the other BS because that was the point |

None of what the Kings did was offered as proof of that. At least not by me. You haven't made a single good point. Pretty much every point you've made has been dead wrong in my opinion, and by your counterpart. That's just my opinion. We do know that rushing players can hurt a player, and that "overcooking" them doesn't. |

i want to see as many of the young kids as much as the next person but I do get allowing prospects the time to develop in the minors to refine their game. no player has been ruined spending extra time in the minors but it can be said development has hindered or even ruined players being rushed. and believe me I am one of the people who are clamoring to see the kids. my heart wants them in now. My head gets it |

‘Overcooking’ most certainly can hurt a players development in both confidence and loyalty to the organization. That is simply an untruth.
But I don’t think it disqualifies you.

Except for the actual specific points I made
There is nothing that Lindblom will do from now until when he actually gets called up that is going to deem him "ready" He is just going to get called up. You aren't rushing a player that is ready |

You don't know that to be true. Part of what makes a player ready for the NHL is the ability to play at a high consistent level over a significant period of time and not just for a short period of time. You deeming him to be ready doesn't make it a fact that he truly is.

Eventually the best players need to play. It’s not like Hextall purposefully with holds talent. It’s just his mentality....hopefully for him and the Flyers he’s proved correct.
