Because he has potted between 25-30 goals each of his past 3 seasons, along with that is a better playmaker and better hands. He shoots a ton and is more of a pure goal scorer then Simmonds who makes his plays in front of the net. Hoffman can carry the puck and make plays where usually simmonds treats the puck like its a hand grenade on his stick. Very good skater and 2 way player.

If were going to lose Simmonds, getting a 28 year old who can score and keep a veteran presence for the young kids when we could be a year or 2 away is not all bad.
