Where is the evidence that what they are doing is proven to work? There is plenty of evidence of young players contributing on other teams around the league - YuenglingJagr
First of all every player's development is different and individualized. I know you know that so that makes your question disingenuous to start with. What your attempting to do is to change the point of the conversation by putting a requirement on me to provide evidence to try and discredit me. That's not going work. There is plenty of evidence that too much AHL time doesn't hurt a player.
Mainly we we differ is that I'm willing to give Hextall and the Flyers the benefit of the doubt that they know what they're doing in developing younger players and that they're the experts, not me. The tone of your posts is that the Flyers are "pretending" and insinuating incompetence and that you're the expert.

Everyone who said that Ghoulborne was a reach in the 3rd round can eat a big fat pile of crow this morning.
He is now an NHL player. Any player drafted that makes it to the NHL can be considered a successful use of the draft pick.

Any ill will from me shifts to the fans who will go to the games to support this poop.
No offense really if that is anyone on here, but those are the real contributors to the ineptitude. - flyer_nutter
Absolutely, fans who choose to spend their hard earned money to go see an NHL game they might enjoy are the real cause of the issue. What we need is a good boycott of the games, that'll fix things.

Truthfully calling up Ghoul is just very old school Flyers thinking. Predictable in a way.

Hilarious and hypocritical on a couple levels.
1. You're chanting Go Leafs Go today. Did their fans stop attending games to show their lack of satisfaction in 12 years of mediocrity?
2. Penguins get roasted on here frequently for their lack of fan support and financial troubles in the past yet here you are wishing the same for the Flyers franchise.
Do everyone a favour and take your nonsense to another bandwagon. |

Wouldn't evidence of this be exactly what LA has done? I mean Hextall came from that organization, which they allowed guys to develop in the AHL and brought them up when ready.
Toffoli played 77 games in the AHL before he was an NHL regular
Pearson played 105 games
Muzzin 3 season in the AHL before he got a shot.
Lindblom has played 35 AHL games. I don't think it's killing him getting solid minutes in the AHL and the Flyers making sure he is ready before they bring him up. Especially if the see him as a top 9 player. Someone they rely on for scoring depth |

Ok let’s go back to reality. I hope the kid does well. It would be nice to have someone on the team that brings more nasty. I don’t know if he will be allowed to as the coaching staff has leashes the aggressiveness out of all the others but we shall see. Anyone is an improvement over the likes of Lehtera.
In the grand scheme, Ghoul and the decision to bring him up is a fart in the wind. It’s just kind of another questionable decision.
Hope the kids do well, get some good ice time and Manning or Mac get a nice groin pull to let Sanheim back in. |

discredit you
I never said too much AHL time will hurt a player. Their development philosophy has shown to be two things...putting players into specific roles and overcooking prospects just so they can say they didn't ruin them by calling them up too early.
We differ because I have an opinion and you just repeat what Hextall says all day. Development is a lot more than just how much time a player spends at lower levels. I didn't say they are incompetent at development, just that I disagree with their philosophy that keeping Lindblom in the AHL long enough will increase his NHL ceiling and in general have any positive effect on the prime years of his NHL career. That is where there is a lack of evidence. A player has to transition to the NHL at some point, and being in the AHL might prepare them better to make that transition, but when it is clear from actually watching a player (novel concept) that they are prepared I think the benefit is minimal.
Ultimately, I don't care too much if he gets called up now or a couple months, but that doesn't mean it isn't part of the issue that this team faces currently. If we want the Flyers to be playing to their potential, see progression, make the playoffs, they should be doing it with their best players, and we (as fans) have every reason to be critical of that not happening. |

That was his early career trajectory. He has become a reliable pker and more of an energy guy than a goon. He fights like rinaldo wildly throwing to make up for his size difference. He also skates well like rinaldo. That's about where the comparison ends. But I don't see how an ahl 4th liner truly benefits this team. But end of the day it also doesn't make us any weaker. I'm more frustrated by the insistence on roles. Imagine if the golden State warriors forced every player into a role instead of wings and post players. |

thing is maybe the kid becomes a solid 4th line NHL player. Maybe not. I am always good with seeing what a player can do. |

Yup. I hope he has a whale of a game. Would help us not be exposed to some of the turds we see being put out there even if it isn’t Lindblom being brought up. |

If they really wanted to change things there are better moves. But the Flyers knew going into this year they weren't contending so moves like this are what you get now. Trade deadline you will see the moves that really affect this roster. - dragonoffrost
No you won't. Maybe someone with an expiring contract or a vet with a year left on his deal gets dealt. Hextall won't do anything substantial to this roster til the off-season. I'd be shocked if he proves me wrong. |

Wishing injury on someone to get the lineup you want? Come on that's low. Amac and Manning have both been playing better than Sanheim. I'd like to see Sanheim play too but if anyone should sit it's Hagg.
