It's great having a GM who looks like he can find a homerun from anywhere in the 1st round, but Dahlin is legit and will be the first pick. He's a franchise #1 Dman, and what we need so desperately. We'll never trade for one, and even if Karlsson and Doughty become available soon, they are not worth the amount of assets it would take to get them and the cost of their next contract. And, given that they're approaching 30 with injury histories, forget it.

It will take a year for Dahlin to get used to the NHL and if he were a Sabre that will be right when Jack is in his prime and Mittelstadt is on the team, and Guhle, Ullmark, etc... Dahlin will turn us into a contender.

Equal numbers do not equate to equal skill. Mittelstadt has quicker hands, feet and what he does with the puck blows away what Nylander did last year and does now. Talent trumps numbers which are still impressive. Not to mention Mitts can play center and wing and wins faceoffs too. People have to stop just looking at numbers.

Last year Nylander played very well right up until the big game, and disappeared. Just like Mittelstadt this year.

Im not saying Mittelstadt isn't the better player because he clearly is at this point, just that i cant believe how different the perception was between the two despite very similar situations.
