yeah, I've been thinking about it more and I think Forsberg stays too; not traded, not sent down. Glass is a great story for right now and Q is getting all he can get out of him. Eventually he gives up a bunch and Forsberg takes over and keeps the net until Corey returns.

Do people see comparisons between Forsling and Leddy.
-played for the hawks at 19/20 years old
-left side defender
-smallish, not overly physical
-good puck mover and good shot
-inconsistent in their own zone -look great for a few games, then look average or below for a few games
-inconsistent effort/energy for stretches of games
-reluctant to block shots (sometimes avoiding shots)
-maybe intimidated by Q

Leddy is 26 now, with 6 goals, 22 assists in 41 games, a minus 14 on a team with similar numbers as the Hawks, in his 7th full year in the NHL, signed a 7 year $5.5mil per year deal after his 4th year in the NHL. I think most would say he is a decent to good 2nd pairing defender.

I think it is a "comparable". Forsling is an RFA after next season (Summer of 2019)

If you're Stan and Forsberg gets claimed on waivers that Panarin trade might look even worse on the surface.

I like Glass and the story that he brings... but boy, he's an adventure out there. He's got borderline NHL skills and he's 32.

The Hawks don't have much in the pipe and to lose Forsberg over Glass when Crawford will ultimately play 90% of the games when he returns (if healthy) ... it would hurt their long-term depth.

I think watching guys like Crow/Darling on the Hawks have made people not understand (or forget) that there are different styles of goaltending.

Crow relies far more on positioning and technical aspects to have his success. This style is much more "boring" looking when watching. By "boring" I mean that you won't see him all over the place because he has his position/technique down so well. He's making crazy saves, but it's more subtle looking because of his style.

Glass is more of an athletic/acrobatic style. Yes, there are times he is all over the place, but remember, he's getting his feet wet at the NHL level. He's not a technically sound guy like Crow and that's OK. There have been a number of untraditional/unorthodox goalies who rely on athleticism and have found a lot of success--think Hasek, Marty B, etc...

Some dudes just aren't as technically sound as others, but they rely on physical ability and sheer will to get to where they need to be to make the stop--regardless of how pretty or nice it looks.

In the end, it doesn't matter what you look like, just as long as you keep the puck out of the net.

It would be interesting to get an "unfiltered" take on Glass from Waite. I have no idea what Waite's philosophy is on goaltending, but he seems to have a winning approach. Forsberg looks like he is more in the Crawford-type technical mold, where as Glass has got some Tim Thomas in him.

I would assume Waite is more of a technical guy, but maybe I think that because of how Crow/Darling turned out.

I feel like a good goalie coach would have to be able to adapt/adjust and understand the strengths and weakness of who he is working with and be able to adjust said strengths/weakness to get the best out of them--regardless of style.

But who knows.

Oh, I agree. There's certainly shaky times. But he's so green. Like you said, only three games under his belt.

I thought he looked very good against the Rangers. He made a great save about 10 seconds into the game on a nasty one-timer. He came all the way across and soaked it up. Tough first save to make.

I think he looks more confident every game--hopefully they keep winning or keep it close--so that personal and team confidence builds.

I think Leddy is a much better skater than Forsling.
Forsling has a better shot. Both are similar in terms of passing abilities.
I see similarities in terms of how they read (or more appropriately, mis-read) the game and in some of the mistakes they make, especially in their own end.
There is obviously potential there in Forsling, but i'm not sure why he continues to consistently get 20+ minutes. At this point he is a 3rd pairing d-man who with improvement can be a #4. I would give him more PP time (Keiths?) and reduce some of the 5-on-5 minutes he gets, especially in certain situations. I don't think the Hawks are going to send him to RFD, but he really could benefit from some time there.

No not really, Forsling struggles from time to time but isn't afraid of taking a hit to make a play, unlike Leddyi also think mentally he's 2 to 3 years ahead of where Leddy was. Leddy looked lost in his own end way way way to much

He seems to be in better position most times there is a shot on net then Forsberg. I believe Forsberg is trying to do to much where Glass has more patience, and trusts the defenceman to have his back side. When Vesey had his breakaway his positioning was outstanding, it was going to take a perfect shot to beat him.

It also helps the Hawks are scoring 3 to 4 goals a game with him in net

I wouldn't give up hayden or Hartman for duclaire Hartman and hayden are building blocks for the future. Kempney plus Panik for duclaire and 4th 2018 something like that or pass and use the same package for 3rd line center that bowman forgot to get along with a 4th line center whoops on his part. Also got to question the character of duclair ny rangers moved him in a package and now he whining that he doesn't like playing in ARZ red flags go up there and what has he really accomplish so far.

impressive ...this hawk team went from #1 seed in WC to playoff 4 game bow and now last in the division in about 48 games... and thats with going 6-3-1 in the last 10.

3 points separate 5 teams for the 8th seed...damn it good luck...anyone of those 5 teams has a bad two weeks and its over...

3 pt games will make it tougher for any of those team to climb in the standing...

The Hawks need a nice 10 and 2 run to have a shot at the playoffs , let's get it started tonight. Will be tough .Watched Vegas a few times now and you wonder how some teams didn't protect some of these guys.

At the beginning of the year was worried about Schmaltz when he was playing centre, the way he was playing I thought he may get banged up and it didn't take long before he was. Love him at centre but hoping he plays a little more with his head up and aware of his surroundings, feel he is close to getting clobbered again.
