What about Flipping Filppula for Laughton? - ggunky
I think they like Filppula with Vorecek....he’s a pretty responsible on the defensive side of the puck, and we all know Vorecek isn’t.

How do you know that Goulbourne won't wind up as a good 4th line NHL player?

Question: Do both Jori Lehtera and Brayden Schenn have to tithe a portion of their salary to Vladimir Tarasenko?
It's the right thing for both of them to do. |

They don't have to call up Goulbourne now. He's up for a specific role in limited minutes, no more and no less. Also likely not a long-term call-up (hence number 56 on his jersey) but he could change their mind if he plays well. |

Leier hasn't impressed me. He's a good skater that's about it. If ghoul brings the same speed and adds some edge than it's an upgrade in my eyes. Now I still don't understand the role system we force as an organization. Lindblom vecchione jumping into the nhl and running 4 great lines would he better. But as far as the 4th line in the roles we ate forcing them to play ghoul is whatever to me |

I don't think they are really bring him up to be anything more than a defensively responsible forward. I'm guessing they feel the bigger names down in the minors aren't there yet. |

The role system is not forced. If they thought Lindblom was just going to be a bottom 6 NHL checking forward, he might already be on the team. They are developing him to be more than that. Playing top minutes in the AHL is the better situation for him to continue to develop rather than playing limited minutes on the 3rd line in the NHL. According to reports, it doesn't seem like it will be long before Lindblom is promoted to the NHL.

You missed my frustration. It's not that I think they expect that of lindblom it's that the organization believes so deeply in these roles. The elite teams in this league don't force a defensive 4th line with low talent they run 4 talented lines. Yes they will usually combine some more defensively responsible forwards and on the flip side offensively gifted but overall it's a balanced 4 lines. That's what bothers me. We shouldn't even have a role that's 4th line low minutes defensive responsible no offense. |

However, with the talent they have in the pipeline, I think they will be rolling 4 solid lines in another year or 2. |

Thanks for the update Bill on the NCAA guys....I think you always have to take scouts opinions with a grain of salt. I don’t always listen to the so called experts when it comes to forecasting an 18-19 year olds future....I heard how Mark Stone couldn’t skate coming out of JR...turns out he can. I heard Robert Hagg had regressed to the point where by he wasn’t in the Flyers plans....and that was only a year ago. I could list another dozen but you get the point.
Hopefully a kid like Marody proves some of these forecasts wrong. Quite frankly what he’s doing is amazing this year and good for him....his future is up to him. He does something that you can’t teach....score. |

Which elite team are you referring to? Don't the Flyers currently have Laughton, who is a former first round pick centering their fourth line? Is that the Flyers are forcing roles or are they using veteran depth players in roles while they attempt to develop younger and more talented players to take their place? |

I have some confidence after watching him. He’s not of even Rinaldos caliber imo. But we’ll see right
If they hit on him he’ll fill a role that’s available ever summer to every team for about a million. |

I think this is somewhat true....the so called 4th line earlier this year Laughton-Leier-Raffl was some nights their second most effective line. I think most teams try for top 9 now and maybe have more of an energy line as the other 3. The league is changing more to what your referring to....you can’t just be a one trick pony anymore. (unless that one trick is scoring).

I think they are going to grind Elliot into dust by overplaying him. Flyers goalie rotation has been frustrating the past few seasons.
Sanheim needs to play somewhere. Sitting him is not great.
Happy for Goulbourne, nice to see him getting a shot. In the AHL he drew a lot more penalties then he took. If he can bring some speed and forechecking and can be effective on the PK, he could carve out a role for himself. Anyway I’ll root for him.
Has anyone seen the movie Molly’s Game? Heard it was good. |

Yeah, the only NCAA name I look for is Allison. Looking forward to him become a part of the core in the future. If any of the other guys turn out to be contributors it's a plus.
Hextall's built one hell of a farm system. My kids might actually be able to enjoy a Flyers dynasty during their childhood's. That'd be amazing.
With Sanheim, at this point, it's hard to argue that he's better than Manning. Is he subject to waivers? Can we put him back in the AHL for awhile? |

I haven't forgotten that cheap shot on Couturier. Goulbourne is going to go with Schenn. |
