You just know what is going to happen.
They keep playing the “reliable vets” as long as there is any shot at a playoff spot. As soon as they are out of playoff contention then an influx of prospects and youth get called up.
But instead of tanking into a top three lottery pick, their play improves and they finish just out of the playoffs, but draft position is in the 15-18 range.
