Love those prospect updates Carol!
JG and Mckenzie on a line, I like it! that could be a glimpse into our future 3rd line right there.
Gaudette
Really hope we see him in a Canucks sweater before the end of the year. - neem55
I see JG as a top 6 forward. He can provide the net presence and do the dirty work on a line with EP and Dahlen who will have amazing chemistry. And Bo/Brock/JV should also be a lethal scoring line.
Gaudette is going to be a legit 2LC but luckily for us he’ll be our elite 3LC and this will create matchup nightmares for the opposition. Just need to draft a dman with our first this year and the future core is basically set. |

i believe it was Whitelie that raised a very good point a few blogs ago about this.
With expansion coming any players that are brought in at end of season will have used up a year of professional contract. if expansion happens as suggested, these players will have used up the 2 years of professional contract by the end of next season, meaning they will have to be protected.
Assuming the same rules apply as the Vegas expansion.
I know we dont have lots of talent that might not be worth protecting, but we may be able to use that to use it to our advantage by relieving some teams of assets at a reasonable cost. - Reubenkincaid
Personally with how good Vegas has been I think the NHL will adjust and not allow teams to make the side deals they did. Vegas is too competitive, if they do manage to make it far into the SC playoffs, that'll look bad on the NHL for stacking an expansion team at the expense of others who could use the boost more. |

Canucks look to have excellent potential in the middle with Horvat being legit already. Some luck in the lottery really could set things straight... take one of the top 3 D.... take a shot at another in the 2nd round and hopefully have a couple of more pics to grab wingers as well.
I'll be ready for the post Benning era after this next draft. I always pointed at the end of the Sedin contracts for the next phase. |

I think the rules werent too bad but at the same time some teams lost some really good young guys. The wild, ducks and columbus come to mind especially. Then a team like Ottawa was just odd in not protecting methot even if it cost them a 2nd rounder to do so. |

I honestly think that after this upcoming draft, the Canucks will have an elite group of 22 and under players/prospects that few teams can match.
The rise up begins next year and it's going to be a quick one. |

This is definitely something to think about, I agree. But so is Gaudette deciding to leave the Canucks, as many NCAA players have opted to do. |

Franson - Beatle_john
Flagged.
Franson is the last UFA to sign every summer and the first to be waived. Franson is garbage. |

I like JG for this reason too, I see him as 2nd line maybe, 3rd line likely (if at all). I personally see Gaudette playing wing for us, he's played quite a bit of wing already and his scoring touch is top6 IMO. |

Franson - Beatle_john
Exactly. Franson only makes 1mil and has 7 pts to Guddy's 2. Why not get Franson cheap and send Guddy packing for assets? Hell Franson is on pace for 25-30 pts even with limited ice time in CHI. He might be our leading scoring dman by seasons end!! |

It's a growing trend, which means means it is founded on facts. I'm just pointing it out. I'm sure Colorado sure wishes they had Will Butcher in their lineup. |

Which could be the case. Benning will want a 4 year deal and the Nucks will probably offer a 2 year deal. I think Benning deserves a shot to finish what he started but it certainly doesn't appear the case. |

i would like to believe this but there are 500 to 600 million reasons why the new teams get to be competitive off the bat.
owners getting close to $20m per expansion team are open to being generous with their talent especially those teams where $20m represents close to half their cap. |

I was going to add the same comment. League already mentioned the new pricetag is $650m; if $500m gets you the Golden Knights, then $650m only 3 years later should be worth about the same |
