I'm sorry, I'm confused:
What does Eric Gudbranson have to do with an attempt to win the Stanley Cup? - Atomic Wedgie
A TML fan that is confused about having good defence and how that relates to wining a SC...hmmmm. i feel like the answer is in there somewhere. |

Yeah.
1967 and counting.
Why make a push when Mathews is still on an ELC and affordable.
solid point. - dbot
So trade a guy making 2.5 mill for next 3 years (Brown) for a guy who probably wants at least 5 mill for however long (Gudbranson) and that is going to help the Leafs go for it in a year and a half of Matthews ELC deal? Please explain how. |

Usually like your comments. But no, please stay away from Franson. Every team has passed on him, including Analytic teams like the Coyotes. Yes trade Gudbranson. - Healthy-Scratch
Yeah I usually liked his comments in the past, but...it almost as if him and Nucker have somehow changed bodies. They are both at other ends of their usual shtick. |

We need a big guy on D, for whatever reason(s) it didn't work out. Thats why i'm okay having Andrew Nielsen as part of the package coming back. I think Gudbranson prefers the east coast. - VanHockeyGuy

He scored 19 goals last year in his rookie year.
That would have been second on the Canucks last year - only one behind Bo Horvat.
Please tell me again how he struggles to score.
Or perhaps it's just your opinions that will always have limited value.
P.S. He doesn't usually play with Matthews. - Atomic Wedgie

5 goals in 44 games playing 16 mins per night.
24 goals and a -4 in 124 career games.
Again, he's a decent player and a nice playmaker, but the guy isn't much of a scorer especially as a winger. I'm just not interested at his price tag. - Nucker101
Daniel Sedin over exact same time span:
24 goals and a -27 in 124 games. |

1) 4 games above .500 with Horvat healthy
2) That was despite injuries to Edler/Tanev/Gudbranson/Sutter/Dorsett so it's not like the team was fully healthy and was benefiting from just being lucky.
3) Goaltending has let them down, but even mediocre NHL goalies should put up a .910sv% so things will get better
4) Yes, lack of depth is still an issue, but this will no longer be an issue next year with Juolevi, Gaudette, Pettersson, Dahlen and potentially our 2018 1st round pick all joining the NHL/AHL next season. Potentially Demko joins Marky in a 1A/1B type of role. - Nucker101

Put Marner on that team and he probably does much worse then he did.... and NO one here is going to defend the Sedins play. Especially at their current pay.

Still cant believe they would take Marner over Hanifin, Provorov or Werenski especially starving for defense like the leafs were.
Can you imagine how much better the leafs would be with one of those players? |

You guys should go after Green since Wings can’t compete with your team.
Guddy is reserved for contenders let them over pay. |

Horvat was the back breaker, they held up just fine with the others out. They need another top 6 C to hold down the fort. EP and Gaudette are on the way. Maybe even Tavares.

20/20 hindsight, though.
It looks weird because we have Matthews, but we didn't have Matthews when we drafted Marner.
Let's be honest: at the 2015 draft, the Leafs needed defence badly.
And forwards.
And goaltending. |

Not really. Always defense especially when rebuilding as they take longer to develop and leafs had almost nothing in the system other than reilly. Small wingers are dime a dozen.
All of those defensemen were legit top pairing potential guys. |

Bozak is fine. He is a 3rd line center. Nothing wrong with that. |
