Woah. It's been a great turnaround for the Amerks. Keep it going. Psychologically, loosing for seasons on end has be tough for these guys. Nolans comments to the Buffalo news on how he felt during and after his coaching were interesting.

Okay... so I have been aware of the story behind the Myers draft day trade for quite some time. The question I have always asked in regards to the names on the napkins... if the deal was going to be called off because they wrote the same names, I get it. The Kings wanted their guy. But then why did Regier make the deal in the first place? If the names were different, then Regier could get Myers one pick later. If the Kings wanted Myers, then the deal was off and Regier wasn't getting him anyways. So Regier basically gave up a 3rd round pick to know who the team in front of him wanted to draft. Genius... and fans wonder why Regier lead this team into the ground.

I was shocked when I saw we were 2nd in the div and 2nd in the East . 2pt behind the Marlies. Like to see them get a taste of playoffs and able to compete for a cup. even if it's a Calder one . I would love it

My assumption (I can't recall if it was actually an understanding back then) was that another team was going to trade for LA's pick and Darcy either feared or knew that they would take Myers. So he called up LA to make this deal. I would assume the 3rd LA got from Buffalo was worse than whatever the other team was offering as an extra pick, but the Buffalo deal allowed LA to collect an extra pick and still get the guy they wanted.
