Did we ever find out why lafontain left exactly? Something about Ryan Miller or something?
- MCGUIZZY

He left beacuse he wanted to give both Miller and Ott 7 year deals

And Tim Murray back stabbed him by telling Terry and Kim if you want to be successful you got to get one of franchise players

"You know what happened: LaFontaine was forced to resign after getting railroaded by longtime Pegula associates who convinced Kim Pegula that LaFontaine spoke ill of her. Kim Pegula should have known it was hogwash. LaFontaine rarely says anything negative about anybody, let alone a co-owner who handed him a dream job.

The idea that he quit, as sold by Ted Black, was utter nonsense."

That's an extract from this article by good ole Bucky.

This is pretty tangential, I guess, but I looked at statistical leaders after reading your post so here we are. I have no point to make here; I just found this interesting/surprising:

Last season 11 players finished at 1.00 PPG pace or better. Two of those players played 1 game. Stamkos played only 17.

The year before only 7 players who played more than 2 games finished at 1.00 PPG pace or better.

This season 26 players are currently playing at that pace or better. And all but two (Getzlaf at 19GP and another player with 1GP) have played a substantial majority of the games this season. Things will probably level off by the end of the season, but that seems like a pretty significant jump in individual scoring.

To bring this back around to the Sabres, Jack is currently at 0.91. Kane is 0.81. ROR is 0.69. Okposo is 0.54.

- JetpackJesus

did you grab these numbers at overall play or just 5v5 (cause the powerplay jump might explain a lot of this and why jack's 5v5 stats are so impressive)

un related but i forgot to mention that the kane stats were pulled from forwards with 500 mins or more

Disappointed to see Bogosian go down again. That guy is cursed with injuries. I thought he was doing OK relatively. I'd rather see Antipin get the extra ice time rather than holding guhle up with the big club.

Per Bob McKenzie:

BUF D Zach Bogosian is likely to miss four to six weeks with LBI (ankle?) suffered in practice today.

- washedup20

seriously I mentioned a month after the trade went through that Bogo would be a buyout candidate.

The sad part is I was actually wrong

What an absolutely useless player. I cant imagine any team that would trade for him at this point or even sign him if he ever becomes a free agent. The guy is so shot.

So now once Kane is moved we are left with by far the worst player (talent & contract wise) in the entire deal. And there were alot of players in that deal. The best we can do now is move Kane for picks and prospects and hope they are even close to the picks and prospects we moved in the deal.

What a joke

Overall play. I was looking at the regular points leader board on NHL.com because I was curious how the stats and rankings you were citing compared to overall numbers and rankings. Then I fell down the rabbit hole.

There's no way he's on this roster next year. There just can't be. Not if they want to be taken seriously

Edit: according to homie i think, they had offers of 5th or 6th rounders for him. they should've just taken it and ran

Jesus dude. They absolutely should have taken that. I get this weird feeling hes one of Housleys "guys" and semi protected. Frank that. The biggest joke to me was giving him a letter over Risto

Believe the trade is: Panik and Dauphin for Duclair and Clendening.

Its definitely turning into one of the worst for the Sabres depending on the return for Kane. It was blatantly clear watching the Winnipeg game that they were the real winners of that trade. They end up with 4 young NHL players (3 1st rounders) that will play for them the next decade. We are left with a pending UFA and an overpaid loser named Zach Bogosian.
