Tanev is very tradeable. Edler unfortunately we are stuck with as he won't waive...but they need to ask him a little harder - LordHumungous
Show edler the franking door and thanks for the memories then he can go lead Sweden to championships. |

Split duties last year with Bachman.
This is his first full year as the starter. - Pres.cup
Demko played 45 to Bachmans 27 so incorrect |

Demko played 45 to Bachmans 27 so incorrect - Brooks_Light
He had the edge. It's a good point. If he plays 50 and dominates, that bodes well for him. I'm fine with having get 8-10 next year, but still think he should play most games in the A. |

I just hope people don't freak out if he struggles at first. I remember how nervous/scrambly Schneider looked in his first few games with the big club. Or look at Hellebuyck in Winnipeg, had a mediocre start to his career as a 1A/1B goalie despite a dominant collegiate/AHL career and now he's an all-star. - Nucker101
Price as well struggled for quite a bit and they were calling for his head in MTL at one time. Good points. |

For the exact same reasons I suggested in my first post, where I pointed out guys like Andersson, Rask, Gibson, Hellebyuck, Quick and Murray as examples - I don't see Demko being any different - He's played really well so far in Utica, so i don't see how being a backup next year is a bad thing. I'm also not saying that a 3rd year is a bad idea, I just think its necessary. - Brooks_Light
I think Demko starts in Utica next year unless he blows marky and nilson out of the water. BUt i think they find a way to move Nilson next year and bring demko up mid way through. |

Sitting on the bench...compared with playing almost every game.... and when he does finally get to play, he might as well be on the ice by himself because that's how (frank)ing useless the forwards and defence play in front of their goalies. No thanks...fix the mess that is the roster, then bring him up to play. |

it does though, because a backup plays 15-20 games. So it's better for him to play 50-60 games in the AHL and dominate.
Liiga is a pro mens league, NCAA is a 18-21 year old league. There's a pretty significant difference. NCAA has a high level of skill/competition, but not physicality and maturity.
So overall, agree to disagree! - neem55
It doesn't tho, at all - you're now saying going from the AHL to being a starting goalie is the best way for Demko to develop??
ok, just to play along out of all the guys I mentioned, only Quick became the starter immediately, Rask split it 45/43 with Thomas, the rest began as backups and became starters over time and therefore I don't see how that would be such a bad thing for Demko.
anyways dude, good chat |

This is more accurate.
But to Brooks' point, he could finish with 45-50 starts this year depending on how much they ride him down the stretch. - neem55
So one year as a starter, let him start the year as the undisputed started in Utica and if he forces his way up, waive or trade Nilsson. |

Bachman got called up due to injury.... demko wasnt the starter to start the season, just to finish. So 1.5 years.
Call him up after half a season next year unless he forces his way onto the team.... or are you a develop in the nhl league type of guy? |

Well... the islanders traded Luongo and drafted Dipietro as their starter... next season lets trade demko and play Dipietro as our NHL starter. |

I forgot it was a 2 yr not a 1 yr for nilson. Might be hard to move then without it being part of a bigger trade |
