I think we can get a 3rd for Lehner
If he keeps playing well,
maybe even a 2nd
He’s not terrible
I’m just not a fan & think we need better - jdfitz77
Gotta try for a 1st. If Lehner has a solid defense in front of him his number get better.
He’s a good goalie.

I don't care. Dennison needed to be fired the second he issued his ultimatum. |

I wouldn’t hate that
But I’d rather try bring someone in like Grubauer (young, could potentially be our #1... not necessarily him though)
Have that guy pair with Ullmark - jdfitz77
so would I but I don't know if he'd go for it (grubauer that is) |

This is where I don't like stats. Too many leaps of logic. Relative to his team means (frank) all unless you're McDavid, Eichel, Matthews... One player, even a good one, isn't enough to stem the poop tide.
And why would Winnipeg do the deal? It's lateral at best and backwards at worst. Value is not value, 3 picks at 211 or later do not equal the 10th overall pick. Yet 3 picks at 211+ have the same "total value" as the 10th in terms of being a top 6 F, top 4 D, or a starting goalie. I want to be the team getting the best player if it's an "even" trade. - Wetbandit1
I don't actually believe that but it's whatever.
I brought up trouba cause of the contract dispute he had with the jets last time, just an example.
I never said 3 picks at 211 is equal to the 10th pick lol Im not sure where you are getting that from either. I said value is value in the context of if Ristolainen brings back a haul of picks prospects (the implication being that they are good not 7th rounders) thats still very good value, at least at this point in rebuild 6.0 or whatever number we're on. |

Think about it like this. You're on a poop team, you know you're on a poop team, everyone knows you're on a poop team. You're expected to be part of the solution. You play 28 minutes a night against the toughest matchups. Your teammates by and large are awful. If they're constantly out of position, or just plain bad, your stats are going to look like poop regardless of whatever you're doing.
And the flip side is also true. 28 minutes on a very good team with very good teammates where everyone is in good position 95% of the time your numbers are going to look good pretty much regardless.
Corsi offers 0 context on an individual basis. Even relative Corsi.
211+ has at 3.2% chance to be a Top6... pick 10 has 13%, so a little over 4, I can't add today apparently. Actually pick 10 was a bad choice weirdly. Picks on either side have a 33.3% chance. So still, 10 211+ is still not equal to a 9-11 overall. That is exactly how people add "value".

Everyone's pluses this year:
Eichel
Mittelstadt
Guhle
Ullmark
Everyone's hate list:
Bogosian
Moulson
Gorges
Okposo
ROR
Risto
Sometimes Jack
I wonder what they have in common - Sabresfan-365
You forgot a few.

If Botts leaves Ullmark and Guhle down in Rochester (which I hope he does), then he really is in full (stealth) tank mode. With Bogo out for at least 6 weeks, this would be the perfect time to introduce Guhle to the rigors of the NHL. But instead, I think plugs like Gorges and Falk will be playing instead. It will be interesting to see who plays D once Gorges gets traded. Maybe they'll actually put Antipin out on the ice again? That poor bugger hasn't been given any type of a chance at all. If I was him, i would be taking my talents elsewhere next year. - SabreWest
It's mostly a language barrier thing. It's been reported on a bit. It's really hard to coach a guy who doesn't speak your language. Why they haven't hired a (frank)ing translator is beyond me. |

What if Im the one constantly out of position, constnatly giving up the blueline and constantly missing my assignment. Why can't both statements be true? that his teammates suck defensively and he does to. certainly lines up with the eye test
I have absolutely no idea what you're going on about with this draft pick thing, i dont care about the 211th pick. If Ristolainen can bring back a haul, it's worth considering. Draft picks are lottery tickets yes. We're much more likely to find an actual top pair guy using a high end lottery ticket than constantly trading for the bogosians of the world.
And yes I know guys like Jones were traded. Hamilton getting dealt because sweeney had a brain fart and Seth Jones getting dealt for Ryan Johansen doesnt make looking through the trade market viable. We have 0 guys with RyJo's value at the time of the deal. |

What if you're out of position because you're trying to make up for your partner looking at his feet in the corner? What if you give up the blueline because you're told to because your coach has no confidence that the players can be in the right place to break up a play? So it's everyone fall back and defend the fort. I've been meaning to ask, in that blueline break up thing is there an "attempted break up"? It would help to know how many times he tries to break up a play and fails at it instead of just he doesn't break up many plays at the blueline. Again, context is key.
I'm saying "value" isn't always "value". Sometimes the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. i.e. a good player is better to have than a bunch of players/picks who add up to him in terms of "value". The pick thing was just an illustration.

I’m always a proponent of get the best player in the deal
That’s why I liked the Kane & O’Reilly trades (still do)
Mid level prospects and even late 1st round picks usually don’t amount to a lot
If you’re lucky,
maybe one of the pieces will turn out to be “good” |

Grubauer (or whatever young-ish goalie we might trade for) won’t have an NTC,
so they won’t have a choice
Idk about Ullmark being a #1 or not
I’m hoping Luukkonen will eventually be that guy
So tough to tell with goalies
Losing Petersen still p!sses me off |
