For me, this part is entirely up to you not specifically you but yeah lol.
My guess is league wide different management teams and analytics departments value these stats differently - Sabresfan-365
That’s why I get on Sbroads for “cherrypicking” stats
It’s not that the ones he posts are wrong
It’s just that sometimes they are really a good measure (imo at least)
For example...
the ppl that use Corsi
That’s really just a bigger sample size of +/-
But just bc it’s a bigger sample size,
doesn’t mean it’s accurate
Still a flawed stat when talking about individuals |

You’re making my point for me.
We know McCoy is better because over a larger sample he’s way better at the process, and eventually the results will show that - sbroads24
But we also know that because we watch. Some guys good at the "process" are playing in the AHL right now. |

The first one would be interesting... im not sure i follow what you mean by the second.
I imagine the no goal success of stopping zone entry is pretty much 99% unless your goaltender poops himself - Sabresfan-365
I wrote that second one wrong for D men. I meant percentage of goal success for successful zone entries against a D man. |

I never said routinely.
It doesn’t even have to mean “take over” games as much as just being the best player that night.
Some nights guys like Kuznetsov or Malkin or Ehlers look like they are a level above everyone else.
We don’t have that guy outside of Eichel. - sbroads24
Oh, come on, pretty much every top 6F, top 4D, 1G fit that criteria. |

That's not necessarily on the D-man unless it's a rush goal immediately after the opposing player beats the D-man at the line. |

Thats a tough one though because you could end up with a series of d-men who have high entry against numbers but low goal ones either because of quality of competition, goaltending, two way forwards. |

Funny him saying that with how much Pysyk was crushed as a player by this board for so long. |

About 95% of the time a goalie gets a shutout he's the best player on the ice. Or a guy racks up 3 points. |

A guy racking up 3 points doesn’t mean anything without context.
That’s exactly what I mean about O’Reilly. When he has his 3 point nights 3-4 times a year, it’s usually a PPG goal and a secondary assist mixed in.
He’s never super impressive to me.

It all comes back to the eye test for me
Stats should just be a guide imo
But some seem to use them as the end all, be all |

Debating on who to root for tonight... Titans or Patriots.
On one hand I live in Titans land, on the other hand I love how much it pisses Bills fans off when the Pats win. |

Every once in a while I’ll go back & watch highlights from the Briere/Drury days
If I ever see Golisano or Quinn,
they’re getting punched right in the nuts!
Still makes me mad how that team was dismantled

I’m not sure anyone says it isn’t important
What they say is that signing players based on FO ability is really dumb because there isn’t a ton of variance.
The best team is the Jets at 52.8%. That’s slightly above 50%
The worst is 45.6%
The difference between the best and worst is like 2/3 FO wins per game - sbroads24
52.2% bla bla
37.3% bla bla
All this = Bull💩
Go get some good players and you will start winning games! |
