Expecting no good defense to slide past arizona in the 2nd and looking at guys ranked 25-40 he is probably my number 1 target as of now.

The one forward I really want but there is no chance we take him unless we trade a bunch of guys and end up with 2 or 3 firsts(pipe dream for me) is Barrett Hayton.

- mauryballstein

Button just ranked him 6th.

Why do the Canucks need two more 4th line PP specialists? Already have Gagner. Softest 4th line, even if they played in a women's no checking league.
- manvanfan

I agree with you.

They are not a solution they are a bridge to a solution.

Its nice to have a couple of hall of famers to lead the young guys. They will require no long term commitment.

I think most have him around 15. I saw the button interview and he loves the guy. Begeron clone.

That's not what I had wrote. Guessing that you are just embarrassed to put it under your own name. You shouldn't. We are accepting here. It's okay.

Its not about wanting them here. Its about fit. Our prospects are a couple years away so they are good stop gap.

I in no way want to commit 5 and 6 year deals to old LE type players for huge money.

This is exactly the point, some people are just consumed with the hate of specific players regardless of their name, or regardless of what they bring. They will marginalize the players true worth as something they deem inadequate.

I do not hate him to the extent of what the Sedins discussion has been.

My stance has been and will always be that he should have stayed in Utica, and developed properly, same as Hutton

I dont hate the Sedins. My stance is that they arent needed anymore. You can bring in lots of players to fill their positions.

Their positions can easily be filled in from within. Their cap hits outweigh their contribution, even if they signed for cheap. Its time to cut the cord with the sedins. Linden can go with them too.

Just wondering, who do you find is ready and able to step into those positions?

I feel it's getting time to move on from them and thank them for all they've given to the organization, but also can see them coming back next year as I don't think what we have in the system is ready to come in and bump everyone up a level/have everyone elevate their game that much more.

I think them coming back will result in the same position in the standings, maybe a little higher with more youth seasoning. So another good draft pick plus a year for some prospects to get inserted without being tasked with too much, while the rest get more experience elsewhere, can't be that terrible?

We arent contending in the next 3 years. Sedins dont add anything in that time frame. No point in wasting two roster spots on players who should be retiring.

We have 4 centers in horvat, sutter, granlund, dowd. 5 if you include gagner. 6 technically if you include Gaunce, and 7 if our prediction of gaudette signing and burning a year of his elc. Sedins have been the face of the franchise forever and we owe them so much for what they have done both on and off the ice. But this team isnt going to be winning any playoff ŕounds anytime in the next couple of years. The sedins will just take up 2 roster spots and 20 minutes a night that could be given to anyone. I would rather not see them here next year is all, but i wont cry if they sign one more.

How have Granlund, Dowd & Gagner worked out since Horvat & Sutter have been out?
