I totally think Carolina would be interested in Vanek. I also think, like I said, that they have a young d core that could do with another vet in the mix to really make it solidified. I know they wont give up on Hanafin or Slavin, but maybe Jake Bean or Fleury and a high pick? - neem55
I would be like Nucker in front of mirror if we got either one of them
Fleury is who I wanted in his draft year. |

Philly similarly has so many d prospects but could probably use someone at Tanev's level to take them over the top. |

How many picks and prospects to take on Phaneuf's albatross contract and have to watch him bumble around like an oaf for three years in a Canucks jersey? - neem55

For what the Sedins are going to produce on the third line we could totally sign better defensive players that might even exceed their points. - LordHumungous

D first. Nashville, Carolina, Philly are going to be better longer. As long as they get some goaltending (the last two anyway) |

Hextall was hired as Philly's GM the same as Benning, spring of 2014. |

Philly does have nice defense prospects for sure, tough to get a read on what that team is trying to do though, are they re-tooling on the fly, so they are not wasting the prime years of those 3 top forwards they have, are they rebuilding, hard to say without Hextall coming right out and announcing what he is doing.

I think he knows he needs a good dman. Enter Tanev. I see him backing up the truck for Carlson in the offseason.

People keep saying it will be easy to replace the Sedins by signing some UFA's but never say which UFA's might be a good fit for the Canucks for 1 season.
So, which UFA's? |

Could look at players like Backlund, Atkinson, Hornqvist, De Haan, Eller, Komorov, Bozak, Cole, Cogliano, Perron...just really scratching the surface. Lots of players out there that can get you 40 pts for less cash than probably what the Sedins are gonna want. Plus most, if not all are more defensively responsible...just takes some creative thinking on Jimmy's part. The list is long. |

Yes it does work both ways but.... if they don't play on a line with him, but half his goals go through them, doesn't it show that they are making him a better player? |

They will be re-signed, if they want to come back for another season.
People need to get over it.
I have never been a fan of them, but smart enough too realize they were great in their day and will be NEEDED for another season.
Unless, of course we sign Tavares.😁 |

The only player worth pursuing on that entire list is Backlund. Maybe Hornquist if he accepts short term, but why would he? |
