Maybe Van doesnt need to find players on one year deals. Why is it a must for 1 year deals only? - manvanfan

That would be the comparable for the twins, one year deals until the Peterson's and Dahlen/ linds are ready to play in the big league. Placeholders unless we sign Tavares, but he's joining stamkos in Toronto so that's a pipe dream. |

I get that the Sedin's said they would sign year by year. What does that do for team building? They wont here in the future. How do they mentor when they have taken a spot from those. You cant get anything for them at the TDL. What if EP and others arent ready the year after? Going to sign the Sedins for another year. Could have signed someone else on a 2 year term. Then if not needed trade away for an asset. The sedins certainly dont fit TG high tempo game. |

Would you rather Chaput and Guance? Or hank and dank?
Who is a better player?
Because that is who i see them pushing down the depth chart, not the Boeser or Peterson's. |

Spending too much time looking at the current roster. Start thinking towards the future. |

I'm glad that you agree with me that one year deals are needed so we arn't handcuffed in the future.
Its been a long debate but we are both better people for it.
Me because i learned to tolerate opinions that are inaccurate and wrong.
You because you learned to accept the truth into your heart and mind by bending to my will.
I'm proud of you manvan.

So you see improvement there?
Van was in a playoff spot for a while there too đ - manvanfan
Ya I do. Particularly on defense they look a lot better this year. They just happened to be in the most difficult division in the NHL. |

Prior to injuries the canucks liked improved as well.

they looked like a team that overachieves early in the season, same as the last two years. If anything, I see a much more clear pattern with the Canucks. |

6 year deals handcuffed
2-3 year deals means assets and accumulating future draft picks. đ¤ |

Look better in what way? I'd say if a defence is better/improving they should be not getting scored on as much and that ain't happening. Last year they averaged 2.80 GAA and this season they're averaging 2.95.
And I'd say the central is the tightest division. |

Goals against average refers to goalies and defenders. Their goaltending is much, much worse than last year. |

Thatâs debatable. Markstrom numbers are eerily similar to Millers from a year ago, and Nilsson has had a few big nights against ballooning his numbers on very few starts. |

Well I was talking about Philly, first of all. Second of all. This poophouse two backup goaltenders are better than Miller? GTFO you've got to be joking.

Actually, despite letting in more goals, they have a higher save percentage so the goaltending is actually better in some ways.
so how is the D better again? |

So the team infront of Marky is a better team then Miller had.
As for Philly, they went lateral in goaltending. Less experience on D |

LOOK at the numbers. Miller finished the year with 18 wins, and very modest S%/GAA. Markstrom is on pace to do as well/better. Iâm not saying the goaltending is good, only that it is âas goodâ as last season...

Yep agree. Their numbers from last year are basically identical just Marky had less games played. Miller got a lot of praise last year and I couldn't figure why.

They have the worst save percentage of any team in the playoff hunt, did you look at the stats before you mentioned this? http://www.nhl.com/stats/...,wins,goalsAgainstAverage |

.914 is quite a bit different to .908. how good do you think Miller's numbers were at the halway mark last year? better than .908 I'd guess.

You have them the 16/17 numbers for Neuvirth not the 17/18 numbers, he has improved significantly...(.923 vs .891) |

Yeah, I am not doing that as I don't have the skills to hack NHL.com to prove a point. I looked up on hockey db and yeah Neuverth has started 11 games and has a much improved %. over 11 games. the starting goalie is still way worse than he was last year. I don't see how pointing out the backup has improved is really relevant. |

The difference isnât âsignificantâ though. Through games as of Jan 12th Miller had 12 wins, had given up 68 goals on 794 shots for a SAV% of .914. From that point on he only managed 6 more wins as the team circled the bowl. With healthy bodies coming back I could easily see Markstrom reaching 24 wins this season. |

I donât even know what you guys are talking about, Flyers goaltending or some such nonsense? I just followed the link you posted and noticed it was apples and pears instead or all apples... |
