They have the worst save percentage of any team in the playoff hunt, did you look at the stats before you mentioned this? http://www.nhl.com/stats/...,wins,goalsAgainstAverage - neem55
You said their goaltending has gotten worse this year. Based on the SV% - no it hasnt, its improved. Their G combined GAA is fairly similar to last year, but as a team they're on pace to give up more goals.
We were never talking about in comparison to other teams - so I don't know why suddenly you mentioned that?
You went from saying their D "looks better", which you still havent answered. To goalies, to teams in a playoff hunt....
So i'll try to get you back on track, based on what, other than opinion, how has their D improved???? |

It hasn't, if the goalies save percentage is better, yet their goals against average is worse, then it means they are giving up more shots per game which is the opposite of improvement from a defensive standpoint.
Anyways, Benning is better then hextal or you can go start arguing in the flyers forum.... |

The more important question I think, and one that both Canuck Nation and Flyer Nation are on the edge of their seats for an answer once and for all, “who would win in a fight between Jim Bening and Ron Hextal”? |

Jim seems like the nicest GM in the league. Hextall has that presence/intimidation that scares reporters if you’ve ever watched one of his “less formal” media scrums
Plus if weapons are allowed then it’s game over lol |

I bet Benning would fight dirty though, beard pulling, eye gouging, you name it. Hextal, as “savage” as he was as a player, strikes me as more honerable, and that’s why he’d loose |

Potvin was crazy, unpredictable, you never knew which hand he would be throwing with, and strong for his geisha like figure. |

The goalie that has played the most games this year, is quite a bit worse than the goalie who played the most games last year. Is that more clear for you? The backup up playing better isn't really important except his stats bring up the average to support your poop argument you keep supporting with the same false evidence. You can't appeal to the stats of the goalie that's only played 11 games. |

So Masons 2.66GAA .908 SV% is "much worse" than Elliotts 2.84 GAA .906SA%?
.18% & .02% is the difference....
and Neuvirths numbers were 2.82GAA/8.91SA% to 2.39GAA/9.23SA%
So to be clear, they dont count because backup goalies numbers arnt important and they support my poopty argument but not yours?
and where did we land on How the D has improved again?

Individual performers such as Provorov have improved. The team lacks steady defensive d-men and has to rely on young guys to log big minutes. I'm not trying to say their d is good, I'm saying that to say it hasn't gotten better is a mischaracterization. Sanhiem, Hagg and Provorov are young and improving players, with young players learning and adjusting, comes mistakes. Andrew Macdonald is not very good. Ghost is good. So what you have Brooks, is three young guys featured in the lineup this year replacing older players like Schultz and MDZ. While it may not appear analytically like they are improving as a team, when you get into the individual players you see that over the course of the year the younger players have gotten better- you might say "HAVE IMPROVED" even.
In addition, Elliott has not been good. Considering his numbers while the team is winning are pedestrian, he just can't seem to put games together. mason was streaky last year, but stole a bunch of games for them along their crazy december streak. Elliott hasn't stolen poop, this is his last NHL contract. |

I'd expect nothing more from a Rock and Roll DJ. He has a Bob Segar poster above his bed, not a hockey player.

Could look at players like Backlund, Atkinson, Hornqvist, De Haan, Eller, Komorov, Bozak, Cole, Cogliano, Perron...just really scratching the surface. Lots of players out there that can get you 40 pts for less cash than probably what the Sedins are gonna want. Plus most, if not all are more defensively responsible...just takes some creative thinking on Jimmy's part. The list is long. - LordHumungous

Hmm
.. interesting
At least we'll still be able to say we have a better GM then Edmonton.
But all in all it's strictly a lateral move as Benning is sliding over to President of hockey operations. |
