My school ran breakfast until 9:30, which was great. I would "go to the bathroom" mid morning class, and stop down for a 5 or 6 stack of buttery cinnamon toast.

There's 90 MILLION unemployed adults in America

I know your brain has a hard time grasping things after 1980, but that also includes 20-30 years old who mostly can't find work because 60 year old men refuse to retire on their wonderful pensions they keep milking and it's destroying the job market

Not to mention, the working class is 90% of this country's workforce and they are uneducated and ignorant to the propaganda machine telling them there's gender wage-gaps (there really isn't), that women don't have equal opportunity (they do) and at the same time, men are exploited for child support by women who purposefully lock guys down knowing it's 18 years of extra income.

There aren't any jobs. The highest industry only employs about 4 million people and that's the health service industry IIRC.

between the texting, social media, online dating. untethering yourself from it is hard even when you're conscious of it. Feel like i've gotten better at it last little while but still a work in progress

Haha! Thank you! At first I thought you were telling me that my brain has a hard time grasping things after 1980 and I was like...Wait, I was born in 80. Then I realized those were all quotes.

It’s sad but that post just sums up the world we live it. Poor me not willing to put in the work attitude. There are so many jobs if you’re willing to put in the work. You may start out below what you think you’re worth, but if you work hard and embrace it, people will notice and you will eventually get what you deserve.

I work with young adults in my industry every day. They always ask how to get my job. I explain that there is only 1 of me and cover western NY, western PA and all of Ohio. The best thing I would suggest is become an expert at what you’re doing now and someone like me will notice and possibly recommend you if I end up moving up. None of them want to hear that. They want the quick easy way to make a buck and rarely ever find it.

Hopefully I can find a way to instill work ethic into my kids.

To much maintenance, I think I'm going to just keep mine nice and hope someday, somebody will notice, and eventually say something to someone who will get help to plan on getting me something nicer in the future.

Edit: IF THEY LEAVE OF COURSE

My son is 28, in the range of many posters here.
His Mom and I divorced when he was about 7.
While I paid $2,400 a month (starting in 1994) in child support for him and his brother, they never had a lot growing up.
He managed to go to NYS Colleges (Fredonia, then UB) and he joined ROTC to help foot his portion of college. He studied hard and earned an opportunity to go to US Army Flight School to learn how to fly Blackhawk helicopters...his dream.
Finished 3rd in class of 100...by studying, doing all the extra work, and focused on being a leader....they Saw it in him.
His 1st 3 years out of college he worked as a Security Guard at a bank, moved up to Supervisor, then came inside for Security planning.
He applied and succesfully tested out to train to become an Air Traffic Controller...tough 5 month training program with about a 33 -40% graduation rate, finished 2nd out of 65 who started. He chose to go to the Wash DC area for further training ... about 2 years worth.
Now he
A) is making about $125k
B) deployed in Iraq flying Blackhawks like crazy...loving
Was just promoted to Captain

Moral of the story,
it is there for those who are serious, work hard and compete.
Proud of that young man!

Oh, his brother went to 7 years of school studied hard, fought his way through a grueling schedule while working as well...
He now makes $150 in Florida 2 years out of school with his Doctorate in Pharmacology...is on the fast track to become a Store Manager then eventually a District Manager. His Management team loves him for his work ethic and leadership...he gets the best out of his employees and is friends with most.

The American Dream is alive and well.
