If you want to draft high to get a d-man and add extra lottery tickets (prospects, picks from his trade) it makes sense.

The bigger issue is if you believe that contract will be bad value which i personally do, then its just another bad contract to deal with. It just doesnt make sense right now

We'll never know because the Buffalo News didn't archive the original story. I went back and looked on the board as I figured that would be the best place to find the story and I found the links, but they were all dead.

Either way. It's hardly relevant to the fact that she sued him. And as yet there's no reported resolution to the case. Maybe it was a quiet settlement, but you'd think someone would've followed up on it and reported the resolution.

The case is still ongoing. Plaintiff requested a preliminary conference on October 13, 2017. Incidentally, that happened today, and the court issued an order setting discovery deadlines.

FWIW, the complaint does not state anything about sexual assault. It is for battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress (or whatever it may be called in NY), negligent infliction of emotional distress (or whatever may be called in NY), and negligence. She alleges that as a result of the battery she suffered bodily injury including lacerations, extensive bleeding requiring multiple surgeries and blood transfusions, and serious emotional trauma. The alleged facts do not get more specific than that. Based on the Complaint, I assume NY is a notice pleading state, and the lack of specific facts is typical.

Kane's counterclaim is for defamation. He claims that the allegations published in the Complaint are false and per se defamation since they accuse him of a crime. Plaintiff doesn't agree, as you might expect. As an aside, I'll note that truth is an absolute defense to defamation.
