That's different from negotiations on going.
I've said this before, why would you want a trouble maker in sport full of non trouble makers? Makes zero sense
He is also injured frequently. - Boss34
Well considering that Falk was the instigator in that last week, Kane isn't a trouble maker and the media has already bashed him. I've been around him after a game and on an off day, he's a good guy. I met him twice and was very respectable and also went out his way for my son with a jersey. |

Look at it this way. He scores goals. What would it cost to get a player better or equal to him - cabin
Yeah I agree to some extent. I've used that argument many times with O'Reilly. Kane at 26 is prime to make a boatload of money for 7 years, but there will be a lot of years in there where he's hurt a lot, and his time away from Eichel has shown he needs a really good player with him. Eichel needs to shoot the puck to be effective in the passing game imo and Kane takes a ton of shots.
A 7x7 contract with Kane is loaded with way too much risk |

after getting duclair I don't think it to much of a reach they are in cup mode and have been willing to give up an asset when a need pops up...... |

Yea idk. I mean it always seems we give the wrong guys contracts and then lose the better players cuz we have all this money tied up. Im just sick of being left with all these overpaid losers on our team.
God I hope the return for Kane is good - MCGUIZZY
Totally, but look back at his previous seasons, and this year looks like an outlier in a lot of ways |

Okposo got 6 I believe, but I get your point. I'm not sold on Kane at all. He plays well with Eichel like everyone else, but I don't think he's the right fit with him long term. He's also injured a good amount, and he's never had this kind of great season before.
I truly believe this season is a mirage - jcragcrumple
What about last season? He did have 28 goals and didn't play a ton with Jack. |

Risk is hopefully a couple picks actually make it to the NHL . Or end up like Sam |

Very true. But he also had fewer assists. I think he's a power forward who people think is a sniper, but he's gonna get paid like a point per game all-around goal and assist guy.
Depends on the contract. If 7x7 is true, that's too rich for a 25-30g, 55p guy who gets hurt |

He’s been healthy. That’s an outlier sure. But he’s also matured and scored 28 gold last year without Eichel for much of the year. Idk I would have much preferred giving him big money than guys like okposo as an example. |

Kane getting older too. A lot of that partying is out of the way. Think what we were doing at the age he was “a trouble maker.”
I would be all for signing Kane if we didn’t have okmoulso contracts to deal with.
We need to convince Okposo to leave. There has to be some team that would take him for free.
Maybe Vegas who has a shot this year but doesn’t want to give up assets due to small prospect pool |

neither but we're stuck with one for now |

Really? No one gives a poop about hockey that's why you never see anything, but plenty of guys have gotten into trouble over the past few years. They also have about 1/3 the players of the NFL too, so less chances. - Wetbandit1

the argument would be on a good time he'd see less time, less opportunities. Kind of like Girgs scoring on tank sabres vs now. I dont think volume shooters like kane are really affected by the team they play on. |

But a GM shouldn't give out a contract based on what they think he'll do, they should look at 8 years of NHL history and pay based on that. Of course come July 1, that'll never happen |

Okposo was a mistake, that right there was an example of Murray getting to far ahead of himself again. |

Small sample size.
He was great with me and my family when meeting him.
My sours says he has stayed out of trouble for the most part.
Also scummy but not law breaking
Signing vehicle leases for girls and then having them repossessed when they stop putting out.

Use the high picks to fill holes in the roster, use the early second rounder for RUDOLPH. He has more upside, and will provide a longer window.
Find a cost-controlled caretaker who can manage the show for 1.5 - 2 years while Rudolph learns the ropes. Make the playoffs those years, go hard at the Super Bowl in year 2 or 3. - Der Kaiser
Alex Smith for a 3rd. 1 year left on his deal. All these other guys would be long term. And that's a mistake. |
