No one would want the Sedin's in my opinion, this is all rediculous speculation. Slow, old and expensive vets for the playoffs? insane - CanuckDon
Look at what teams with an open cup window have done in past years. What may seem insane from the outside is often just insurance so a good opportunity isn’t lost due to injuries to top players.
With the right line-mate, the Sedins are still capable of generating offence and could easily keep a second or third D pairing on their heels. They’d be a nice asset to have on the shelf, especially if they’re able to come in fresh when one or two of your top guys gets hurt.
They have tons of playoff experience and have proven to be quite durable over the years. They’d generate a lot of buzz going into any new market, which would make them an intriguing option for at least a few teams. Canucks are most interested in draft picks and prospects right now, so a contender wouldn’t be giving up any roster player depth to get them. Except for the fact there’s two of them, they’re kind of ideal playoff rentals.
However I personally doubt they’ll be willing to waive and go. Even if some team was capable of making the necessary roster and cap adjustments to get them as a pair.

i'd guess they are worth what igninla brought back for the flames: a 1st and 2 C-Prospects
so double that? - Tumbleweed
The limited market for them will reduce what they could possibly fetch. Maybe a pair of 2nds (2018 & 2019) and some Subban type prospects? |

Correct. Had no reason to even hit him. Saw it as happened on TV. LA is struggling though. Can't be losing one of it's top 6 for a few games. - manvanfan
Don't go near the kings though especially doughty you will be suspended. |

Can't wait to see them get the Mats Sundin treatment. - PepinoPamplemousse
They might be savvy enough to know that their legacy in this market would only be enhanced by being traded for more draft picks...and then re-signing here in the summer for one more year. |

And Shultz wasn't seriously injured. Easy out for the league there. |

I dont agree but I hope you are right! It would be a great gesture if they agreed to waive so the team could at least see if there is a market |

You do realize that Benning doesn't actually NEED to get them to agree to see if there's a market. It's only if a team actually presents an offer that he likes and makes sense would he then need to approach the Sedins to see if they would waive. I doubt in that case they'd actually say no seeing as they can always then sign a 1-day contract with the team to retire as Canucks after. |

I see I've caught up. I responded to almost every previous post and apparently I am now monopolizing this thread.
Be warned that I am fully prepared to argue with, and insult, anybody who disagrees with me. Or doesn't. That's irrelevant really. |

Not to be a Richard, but unless it was an intentional suicide, an overdose is accidental by its very nature... |

Not sure why people keep talking about the cap issues. A lot of teams can take the Sedin’s back at the TDL ev n if we don’t take a contract back.
Just say the deal gets done with 20 games left, the 10.5 is pro-rated down to 2.5.
I like the Sedin’s and like what they have something this year. I wouldn’t mind the team signing them next year for 2/3 line duty and 2nd PP time. Especially if it is reasonable (although the Nucks won’t have any cap issues next year, no matter what).
On the other hand, if they keep/resign Vanek....I will turn in my keys. He was signed for a purpose. That purpose was to fill a hole and get a return at the deadline. The plan has worked beautifully.
Sign him....and he will turn into ‘normal Vanek’ on them. I would puke. - Dollars2Donuts
Recent Moves: Younger & Faster
The biggest move made by Joe Sakic at the 2017 trade deadline was acquiring Sven Andrighetto, a young, speedy, and skilled player, who figures to be a top 9 forward for Colorado this season.
This offseason, the team did not add many veterans. Rather, Sakic added NCAA free agents, Alex Kerfoot and Dominic Toninato. The former appears to be slated for a top 9 role with the Avs, while the latter figures to be an early call-up from San Antonio in the case of injuries. Both appear to be skilled and have good foot speed.
Getting rid of the old and slow and bringing in younger/ further developed speed and skill. |

Younger, faster, yada yada yada. So why do teams always, every year, go out and specifically acquire experienced veterans for the playoffs? Different game than the regular season perhaps?
