Canucks are retaining on Luongo and Hansen so the max they can retain is 50% on one Sedin.
10.5M cap hit if moved together - Nucker101
Doesn't the team that trades for a player only take on what's left of their cap hit for the remainder of the season?
If that's the case, then by the trade deadline they'll only have about 25% of the season and their salaries left. Or about $1.75MM each.
Assuming the Sedins were willing to be traded, there might be several teams who have close to that much cap space available in LTIR allowance.

I can't see the Sedins going to CBJ, mostly because of Torts.
I could see them going to Toronto, Florida, Carolina, NJ.
What if Daniel goes down for the season and Henrik agrees to a trade to Florida with 1/2 salary retained? - dbot
I think they liked Torts, he respected them, rode the crap out of them, but held them in very high regard, at least publicly. I could also see TO as an appealing place to play, what with all their young stars. |

Yeah, LTIR savings give some teams a lot more cap space. |

“When I saw Dustin Brown x-check, I had two immediate thoughts: 1. I’ll be curious if DoPS sees it as rising to level of SD; 2. If DoPS chooses to not suspend Brown, given Cogliano ruling, the flak will go viral. And it has. Bottom line: Brown should have been suspended. 🙄”

Columbus currently has 11 million in cap space.
Retain half of 1 Sedin add in pullout. so 11.3
In return Van gets Calvert 2.2 Jokinen 1 and Johnson 4.357 for 7.5. Difference of 4.8.
Then van can get a couple of picks and or a prospect or something. A hand shake to the twins thank you for your service.
Columbus does have the worst PP in the league currently. Torts knows them. Misses them. - manvanfan
Based on Torts' exit interview saying the Canucks' core was old and stale, I don't think Torts was a fan of the Sedins. Not sure he'd be excited about having them join him in Columbus. |

Correct. Had no reason to even hit him. Saw it as happened on TV. LA is struggling though. Can't be losing one of it's top 6 for a few games. |

He could be the guy telling Aquilini what’s up, telling players with NTC that times up, where do the want to go etc. |

Not sure why people keep talking about the cap issues. A lot of teams can take the Sedin’s back at the TDL ev n if we don’t take a contract back.
Just say the deal gets done with 20 games left, the 10.5 is pro-rated down to 2.5.
I like the Sedin’s and like what they have something this year. I wouldn’t mind the team signing them next year for 2/3 line duty and 2nd PP time. Especially if it is reasonable (although the Nucks won’t have any cap issues next year, no matter what).
On the other hand, if they keep/resign Vanek....I will turn in my keys. He was signed for a purpose. That purpose was to fill a hole and get a return at the deadline. The plan has worked beautifully.
Sign him....and he will turn into ‘normal Vanek’ on them. I would puke. |
