I'm not sure if it's fact, his original ask or what he currently wants. They are rumors.
Kane is not scoring like he was. That is fact. Again, how does that make him worth more? His current lack of scoring? - Boss34
Kane has 1 goal and 2 assists in the past 11 games.
You really think GMs are offering more?
Wouldn't they want someone who is hot not cold? |

I don’t think we will get much...
but teams will have the Cap room & desire for a depth defenseman at the deadline
Weber got a 3rd
Gorges isn’t a top4 guy
But i think someone would trade a pick to have him as insurance - jdfitz77
Might happen, but the cap hit does eliminate half the playoff teams as possibilities. Part of the reason that Weber-types get moved is because they come at such a low cap cost. I hope they can move him for something. If it's higher than a 7th, I'll tip my cap to JB.

If Kane scores zero goals in the next 5 games, teams aren’t gonna forget the 7+ years of tape they’ve seen him putting the puck in the net
And if he suddenly scores 5goals in the next 5 games, teams aren’t gonna suddenly think he’s Ovechkin
Kane is the best scorer available
He’s tops in the list
A small sample size isn’t gonna change that
The thing that will change is the more teams bidding on him...
price goes up
If it gets down to 1 team...
then the price will likely go down & Botts will make the best deal possible |

Sabres will keep salary to make a deal
And don’t forget that the salary is prorated
A team won’t end up needing that much space to keep him |

Haven't forgotten this. If the Sabres retain 50%, that puts it in the 500k area. 7 teams flat out don't have the projected space. 6 more have less than 1.5m to maneuver. If a team like Winnipeg wants him, then a deal happens. There's only a couple viable teams though, and who knows if they're interested. |

You are some how making evander kane sound like Wayne Gretzky. "Putting the puck in the net for the past 7 years"
Kane's best assets are being fast and powerful. Hard on the puck and difficult to play against.
Kane has only 173 goals in the nhl over parts of 9 years. Good but hardly great.
Your argument was he value is up, it isnt. 3 points in the last 11 games is not up value, regardless of the amount of teams with interest.
Who wouldn't want a hot player?

it's also wrong.
He had 3 shots 3 games ago against syracuse
The stat he got that from was 8 periods without a shot, not 8 games. - Sabresfan-365

True, but Gorges comes with a 3.9m cap hit (pro-rated, of course). I don't think he'd be claimed. If you retain half his cap hit, then maybe you get something token for him in a trade. It's still a tough fit for most teams...and it's Gorges. - Lunaion
Waivers only pay a certain percentage. I can't remember what it is, but if he's waived late in the season his celery is negligible.
If we had this Gorges instead of one of Janik, Paetsch, Fitzpatrick we beat the Canes. |

Competition drives Kane's value, not recent performance. Maybe it's up. I don't put any faith into media reports on it.

So if kane had 10 goals and 5 assist over the past 11 games, he would have the same current value as his 3 points ?
I agree with your supply and demand , but that wasn't what Fitz was saying. |

Hmm...interested in the details here. My understanding is a waiver claim would assume his full contract. The cap hit gets pro-rated of course. I think this would be around 1m at he deadline.
A trade would let Buffalo retain up to 50%. This could take his hit down to 500k, maybe a little less.
Doesn't seem negligible, looking at projected cap space. If it works differently, I'd be very curious to know. |

I think it's also scary that, although, Rochester is doing well, it's really not any of our prospects consistently lighting the lamp besides Smith. |

General Fanager used to show TDL Cap Space. Team's cap space prorates too. Teams that start up against the cap can have 3, 4 million in space at the deadline.
I know it used to be a thing with waivers. Maybe it's not anymore, but you used to only pay 1/3 or 2/3 of the claimed player's contract. |

Guhle and ullmark are having very good years down there...as well as Smith. Bailey has been hurt most of the year and nylander..... well.

Re-entry waivers used to be 1/2, but those are long gone. With the change to buried contracts, it's tough to reclaim much cap space. CapFriendly seems to show it all well. I could be over analyzing, but it's much easier to deal for Justin Falk as your 8/9 D than Gorges.

I miust've been thinking about the old system.
I can't read. Wow. I can't believe I missed that. I must've just skipped over the deadline cap space field on CapFriendly. Maybe because it's not on the main page like it was on the other sites? I don't know. Either way, pretty "burtal". |

When did i say GMs we’re offering more?
Seriously... READ MORE
Botts didn’t arbitrarily raise the price on Kane
He did so, bc more teams have been calling
Ie: demand is higher
That’s the only explanation that makes sense
But to play your game...
let’s say I’m wrong
Then explain why it would make sense for Botts to raise the price, even with Kane’s production dropping...
Go ahead...
there’s only 1 answer that makes sense

No I’m not
You’re saying all that matters is $$$ is what’s nonsense
There’s no freaking way NyI is lowballing JT
They know what it’ll take to sign him
And they’d do it in a heartbeat if he was ready to sign there
There’s ZERO evidence that $$$ is the issue
Therefore...
it’s logical & reasonable to say there’s something besides JUST the $$$ that is influencing JTs decision to stay or go - jdfitz77
I think you are a blithering idiot with this argument.
You seemingly will do whatever it takes to prove your point and hang on to your narrative that they need to do something else to get him to sign a contract... B.s.
Lets take the sabres for example...
Big trades and fa signings ie: kane, lehner, bogo, oreilly and where has it gotten them? One of the worst teams in the league. So you can keep beating the "make moves to convince him to stay" drum and i will call b.s.
I never said money is everything, but it is more than nothing and does wiegh heavily for these guys as it still is a job for them in the end... To the tune of millions of dollars. "Big money" is millions of dollars and you dont want to recognize that for some strange reason. No matter how rich someone is, 4-5-6-15 million bucks is a lot of money i dont care who you are.
I also said that nobody can predict how good a team is going to be a year or two or three (much less 8 years out.). If thats your basis for argument i will again call b.s.
Also, like i said before, how many teams (if any besides vegas) are set up to win now that have the cap space to sign a guy like jt?
I am not the only one here telling you youre reaching for straws with this argument yet you still keep trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.
In the end the only thing a player can control is salary... The isles have the ability to give him more than anyone else and that probably carries the most weight of anything that can be argued. I also never said theyre low balling him but anything less than the max and he can just wait til fa and see what he gets offered. The isles would be stupid to give him the max before fa and that doesnt mean by any stretch of the word that theyre low balling him.
You like to point out what fits your narrative and act like its the be all end all. Wake up. Im calling b u l l s h i t.
Offer him more money than anyone else and everything else probably becomes obsolete, see above, and all my other posts on the topic. Or we can keep dancing and spinning circles all day with no end in sight.
Every contention i made is way more plausible than yours yet you for some reason cannot see it. Why youre so hell bent on them trading for kane is a mystery to probably everyone except you at this point.

You’re literally unable to read & comprehend
I’m not even remotely hell bent on NyI SPECIFICALLY trading for Kane
I think they will make moves to try n keep Tavares...
no clue if they are or aren’t interested in Kane though
Just that they’d wanna bring in good players to help convince JT to stay
U think $$$ is enough
I just posted quotes from the 3 biggest “experts” that say there’s more to him signing than $$$$
So u can keep believing what u want
But you're wrong |

If you meant that what i have written is unreadable and incomprehensible, there is no need for the "literally" part as you wrote it plain text. It in and amongst itself is redundant at the very least. Outside of a couple times where i put a few .... in order to imply that im leading into another connecting thought everything was written in plain standard english. Sorry if thats overcomplicating (standard english that is.) I will post more monosyllabically in the future for you.
If you meant that i cannot read and comprehend what youre saying i will call bullpoop once again. Almost every post you made before i left i quoted and responded to, including when you asked me to answer a question (which i did) and then i asked you a couple simple questions in response which you ignored and then carried on with your same narrative as the answers to said questions would have been detrimental to your bullpoop argument.
If by "making moves" to try and keep tavares you mean mortgaging assets to acquire mediocre rental players (kane has scored less than 20 goals per year over his career even though you referenced him as a player that puts the puck in the net) then i again will call bullpoop as i pointed out before.
I do think $$$ is enough because as I also said before, teams that are set up to win now with enough cap space and the willingness to sign him at >$10M per year over 7 years (besides maybe vegas, which i also mentioned earlier) arent many if any at all. In the end, as much as people glorify and revere these guys theyre still human and its still a job.
Wrong? Are you the pot or the kettle?
