I'm pretty curious as well, I remember when he first played here in the pre-season and regular season and he was his usual self and then things changed all of a sudden. I know he got suspended for the hit against the Sharks on Polak(I was like 25 feet away from that hit lol).

Either it was the repetitive shoulder injuries, the Canucks staff telling him to dial it back physically and focus on doing other things, or maybe the league suspension scared him. Maybe a combination of everything.

Too soon to call him a bust or anything, but if he's still at this stage of his development by the end of next season then it's time to be really worried.

Id say it was going from junior with kids his age where he can dominate to nhl playing against guys like getzlaf who made him his b*tch pretty easily. Wasn't ready for that yet. Likely ruined his confidence. Green did make him focus on other aspects too in his ahl year. Needed however as a foundation.
Too big a leap for the type of player he was in junior, its unrealistic.
Love his speed and drive to the net, the physicality and scoring will come.
If you look at burrows I believe the canucks found him in something like ECHL then brought him in and it took him a few years of playing shut down roles, then he later became the scorer we had for a number of years.

I recognize you don’t like the current management group....but that’s not how real life works. Benning didn’t tell Jake to stop playing physical. The kid is scared or confused. That happens. Somebody probably stepped up and hurt Jake. Stop blaiming external factors for Jakes shortcomings. Only Jake can determine what kind of player he wants to be. for sure...I'm sure there will be a time where JV jumps into the player he should be, just might take a little longer than expected. The comparisons to Nylander and Ehlers will always exist now and that's just life. We can't expect JV to be Kesler or even Burrows for that matter and I do understand why some here want 'agitating' players...but we have to be careful how we do that. Took us almost a decade to shed the stigma that Kesler and Burrows and even Loowingo brought which is also good why we passed on Tkachuk and filled one of our D needs with OJ. I honestly don't care how good Tkachuk turns out to be...don't need his bullpoop and all that he brings on this club right now.

I had a very strong feeling that they would return so it is no surprise. It just makes me even more think this is the second dumbest organization in hockey. Last three games I have fallen asleep for part of the game so when they sign I will buy more pillows.

I heard a few weeks ago on a radio show that there is a very strong possibility Tanev to TO and that Tanev has always wanted to play for them. I heard back then Liljegen and a first . Let's see if it is true.
