I'm sure on the scapegoating part simply because you can make the same comment about many of the players on the team with some exceptions. It's just lazy analysis. Manning is what he is which is a 3rd pair depth defenseman. To expect a perfect game is unrealistic but if a player of his level comes out unscathed and isn't a liability on the ice then he is doing his job relative to his ability as a player. - MJL
Lazy Analysis? Yes we all put some serious efforts into our analysis, LOL.
All D make mistakes, every game, some go into the net and some don't. My comments over time on this board will support that has always been my position. Again an observation, I dont pretend to do analysis. Over time would SanHeim be better or worse than Manning? My OPINION is he would be better, especially as the run for the playoffs picks up, Manning will stick out more. Is my Opinion that Manning and McD are our weak links, YUP. Do i respect that manning is really a 7th D and McD should be a 6th, yup. Over time they both will be exposed, but I respect them playing a bigger role than they are equipped for. My opinion is play SanHeim now, you will need more than manning in crunch time

This is another flip flop post. You don't like corsi, a team stat, when comparing players but you use the stat top 5 on 5 even strength defensive team to defend Manning. - VladDrag
he was just beginning his analysis, I"m sure other data will be used shortly. I may suggest if he does analysis it also reference the future not just the prior play aka 5vs5, after all isnt the main purpose of analysis.

That's right. If Manning and MacDonald are so bad then how are the Flyers one of the top defensive teams in the league at 5 on 5. Pretty simple.

Right now Manning is a better defenseman that Sanheim is which is why he is playing and Sanheim is not. You can have the opinion that Sanheim would get better that quickly but that is speculative. MacDonald is actually the 3rd best defenseman on the team right now behind Provorov and Gostisbehere. He has been playing heavy minutes in his continued role as a top 4 NHL defenseman and playing solidly. Call it analysis or opinion or whatever you want. I just call it wrong.

Because there are 5 people on the ice, not one.
Also, my main point is to point out that you selectively use stats to fit your narrative, and try to call people out on it.... pot meet kettle. |

and he eliminates the penalty kill numbers. I have no issue with McD, he has been fine, Manning is what he is, he plays solid mostly but last 3 games he is not reading the play well. We all know the intensity picks up A LOT down the stretch, the level of play is higher, just my opinion getting SanHeim up to speed is the best option. Do I think they are that much better with Manning over SanHeim? No I don't but they are winning.

You can have that opinion all you want but you're wrong. I call people out when in my opinion stats are used incorrectly. It's pretty difficult to be a strong 5 on 5 defensive team with two defenseman playing high minutes playing poorly which has been suggested.

Also wrong. I don't eliminate anything. I frequently reference the PK as an issue with the team including last night.

Right now they're definitely better with Manning over Sanheim because Manning is a better player right now.

Re the bolded: Just because the Flyer's coaching staff, or at least Hakstol as we have no way of knowing if the assistants are all in agreement, and you believe this to be true does not make it a fact. It's just an opinion. You both could be wrong. You could be right, but yes, you could also be wrong.
