We've seen this song and dance before.
If the Jags don't put 7 up on their next drive (assuming the Pats get some points) the Pats will end up winning in what will be called "dramatic fashion" |

He's gotta get some speed in the top 6. Baptiste should have played with Eichel yesterday. Nylander is struggling in the AHL. Bring him up, play him with Eichel. Give the fans something
I get it with the culture argument for rochester. Terrific, wonderful, but 5 games. Nylander-Eichel-Baptiste - jcragcrumple
I'd love to add Sprong to the mix, if possible. Kid has wheels, can dangle, has a great wrist shot and is strong on his skates. |

Well then who would you trade for him? His suggestion is a bit easier |

That's not my job to gauge worth, but I'd think we could get another piece. Kane with Sid could be ridiculous.
He's who I'd want in a trade with the Pens, since they're most likely not giving me Maatta. |

I have never been a fan of the Housley hire, mostly because the first time he talked, he lacked that forceful tone that I appreciated from Lindy Ruff.
Making parallels is tough, but Ruff made Vanek his whipping boy, which I thought was garbage at the time. However, maybe if Housley made Reinhart his whipping boy, it would have set the tone for the rest of the team. Scratch him at the beginning of the season. Call him out. Reinhart is the poster boy for "just happy to be in the show"
I wish Housley had more fire a la, "Don't go after our (frank)ing captain!"
I think eventually we will need that guy again. Screw the optics, make the change now and send 23, 9, 22, 28 and others packing. Find a fire and brimstone coach, and get these guys playing.
I thought - and I still do - that Nolan was in over his head, but everyone knows this team has more talent than his teams. This is unacceptable.
This was probably rambling and incoherent - jcragcrumple
The sabres should not fire the coach now
Just finish off this crappy season and then bring in ruff, with the top 5 pick.

the quantity is misleading. he spent next to nothing in terms of assets to bring in these guys, so expectations were obviously on the lower end.
I have a hard time believing a guy as well respected as Botterill brought these guys in expecting them to be good. I think it would have been a pleasant surprise but ultimately he was looking towards draft day (be it a high pick or trades, thats just where the best action for him is for this team) - Sabresfan-365
Agree with this. I have no clue if Bots is good or bad, but you can't remake an NHL team in one summer. Patience was the best move, so we'll see what he has next. He almost had to go with Lehner this year. Had to hold RoR and Okposo. Had to sign Jack.
He showed good judgement not re-signing Sam and by not overpaying/terming Kane. Looks like Casey was a steal. It's a big deadline, and might be the first move where he's setting his direction.

I do like his play recognition stuff, he just needs to throttle his enthusiasm to coherent thoughts instead of his sometimes inaudible yelling |

Goddamnit, I got my tabs screwed up and I was in the old blog...
2 years of trying and not really getting anywhere and then 2 years of tanking and 3 years of trying to dig out of that. Tanking may or may not work, but one thing that's indisputable is that it really sets you back especially if you do it the way the Sabres did, sell everything that isn't nailed down, then pull that poop up and sell it too. The Leafs at least held onto guys like Kadri and JVR.
In retrospect, maybe Nolan was the worst choice of Tank coach, he actually motivated his guys to go out and play, so they had to keep getting rid of guys. |

They said he wouldn't be ready for a year. It's impossible to say how long someone will last. Sure having a history means more risk, but every guy is only one hit away and if you're drafting because you're scared a guy may or may not get hurt, that's just dumb. |
