This trade doesn't make sense for either team and would never happen. - Lunaion
It does make sense from a Sabres standpoint
Also makes sense from an Arizona standpoint (assuming they're getting more than McCabe and 2nd overall)
But it probably would never happen |

because between now and the last mins of deadline day nobody is offering you the A prospect.
In that time, those in the running for kane will turn their attention somewhere else because they have to.
Now it's 245, youve got just one dance partner left and his cupboards are empty. - Sabresfan-365
Again...
1) you don’t KNOW that unless u try
2) there’s still TONS of time
Assuming Botts will wait till 2:30 or 2:45 is nonsensical
He will know by deadline day what the best deal he can get will be
What you’re talking about isn’t “the ask”
You’re talking about “waiting too long to make the best deal”
The ask only hurts if Botts waits too long
There’s no evidence to think he’d do that
It would be dumb
Botts doesn’t strike me as dumb |

Yeah i don't get it either, its like people think this team was supposed to be good and that its botterills fault the trash murray brought in isn't working out.
On a separate note, this rookie GM thing is laughable. Yzerman was a "rookie", Chiarelli was an experienced cup winner.
Ask Henderson how that's working out - Sabresfan-365
Not so.
And I have also said I am watching through the TDL. So I recognize the evaluation of Botterill isn’t compete.
But ignore Murray.
Name a move Botterill has made - he has made at least a dozen now - that improved the Sabres. |

That improved the Sabres NOW...
or has the potential to do so in the future
Things like,
-stealth tanking so we get a top3 pick this year
-keeping the kids in Rochester to develop them properly & build a winning culture there
-drafting Mittelstadt
Those all seem like obvious ways Botts has been successful so far
And the Scandella trade was good (not great) |

This is so misguided. The quantity is irrelevant, all the moves he made were low risk deals where very few if any valuable assets changed hands.
I seriously doubt he expected big things from any of them |

I’m not worried that Botts will keep his ask super high right up until the end
He raises his price NOW,
Bc there’s a bunch of teams interested
Hopefully...
one of them ups their offer
If not,
He still has so much time to just accept the offer he likes best
No harm done
I agree though...
he better not pull a GMTM & hold out for a 2nd (or whatever he wanted) and then just not trade a guy for a 5th (or whatever it was)
He’s still gotta make the best deal available
OR
Re-sign Kane 😁😁😁 |

Is he a UFA this year?
And how old is he?
Besides Tavares,
JvR would be the top forward i go after
Still young, good scorer, and might wanna sign here just to stick it to the Leafs
Hopefully anyways - jdfitz77
Yes he is and hes 31. Thinking more as a short term smaller move. I just think Botts would have interest being that hes a Pitt guy. A veteran that know what it takes to win. Good in front of the net |

Just thinking if we bring in a vet on a short term deal. He would be a guy that I could see us bringing in. But doubt he would want to honestly |

That’s probably too old to fit our timeline
Good player though
Like i said,
I’d rather go younger with a guy like JvR
if possible |

The wannabe KHL insider is suggesting that we are shopping Antipin. He has zero credibility, but it would be a shame. It makes zero sense why a slick puck moving defenseman isn’t in the lineup every night and why we’d want to move him. |

To be fair Pouliot has been better than advertised. As far as him making them better? They do always win when he gets on the scoresheet. So that's something? |

Yea he wouldnt be the only target. Just a short term vet signing. I would still target one of the bigger offensive forwards. JVR may be a stretch. David Perron maybe |

How long until the draft lotto
Very important day for us
Winning #1, basically fixes our defense
DAHLIN - Ristolainen
Scandella - ______
Guhle - McCabe
Svechnikov or Zadina look like great picks at 2 or 3...
but then we still have to figure out the defense - jdfitz77
I didn't include the draft lotto in my count down because I am 100% convinced it will not go the Sabres' way. Buffalo sports have been cursed since winning the roulette wheel spin for Perreault. I don't think they won a probability event since that one.
Sorry to be a Debbie Downer. You can all go back to your optimistic lives now. I'll just hang up and listen. |
