I'm just busting Don's balls. I'm not ready to write off Goblin though, but the guy does float a lot, I'm glad Cull has him PK'ing in the AHL. If he can learn that side of the game and go from bad to even just mediocre, his offense will make him a valuable player.
I'm hoping he gets an extended look after a Vanek trade. If he struggles to earn Green's trust when the season is lost, then yeah he's probably not going to be in the team's long-term plans. - Nucker101
Goldobin and Baertschi are almost at the exact same point in their careers as 22 year old players, Calgary gave up on Sven at that point.
Yes Goldobin is a floater but a lot of pure offensive guys are, they either look past it and accept his defensive liabilities and be happy with his offense or they cut him loose. |

I'd like more then 44 points from my top six - Bullfrog77
This team has bigger issues than Sven being in the top 6 though. The defense is a mess, and even the pipeline is weak in that are. If the Sedins are gone then Sven is unquestionably the team's 2nd best winger lol. Moving him doesn't help that issue.
Don't have a legit starting goalie, hopefully Demko is one in the future.
Bo is the only long-term top 6 center as of now, hopefully EP is the other one. |

Don't put words in my mouth...i said move him out not waive - Bullfrog77
Well you said “any player on the team would produce the same in his spot. I’d be happy to move him just for a roster spot.” To me that implied you would happily waive him or trade him for a 7th. But perhaps my interpretation is off. By definition if you are moving somebody just for a contract spot that’s means any return would suffice |

I'm sure glad that Larianov is his agent and that the kid listens to him. |

Goldobin reminds me of Ray Ferraro, he's dangerous at both ends of the ice when he's on |

Agreed, wish Goblin success I just don’t see him on the team in two years. His skill isn’t high enough to overcome his lack of drive/ grit |

Fair point. But didn't Calgary almost have to move him? Hartley didn't trust him and he was waiver eligible the next season IIRC so they were either gonna have to risk having to trade him hastily next camp if Hartley didn't want him on the roster or they could ship him a season earlier like they did and recoup something out of the 1st round pick they used on him.
The same situation could happen here with Goblin if Green still doesn't trust him at all by the end of this season. He's waiver eligible next season as well so they can try doing what Calgary did and hope someone offers them a decent pick for him now or they can risk keeping him around and losing him for scraps or nothing at all after next year's camp, |

Don't think you get a 2nd, Treiliving said the 2nd he got for Sven was the best offer he received by a decent margin. And Sven had more hype since he came into the league on fire, and didn't have the KHL/Russian threat. I think you get a 3rd at best.
I'd probably take the high 3rd. I'd be iffy on the 4th. If I'm Benning, I ask TG to be straight up about what he thinks of Golbin before the TDL. If he thinks he'll be in tough to make the team next year then I take the highest offer at the TDL(has to be a high 4th at the very least). |

I'd think long and hard about a 4th. I don't see goldobin ever making an impact in the NHL. |

I agree that we couldn’t get a 2nd for him. I just would rather hold onto him than trade him for a 4th. I tend to agree though, if it’s a high third from the Coyotes I’d probably pull the trigger. We have too many forwards like him in the system now. |

without Sven's defensive responsibility Bo's +/- would be horrendous, there is more to the game then just point totals |

Yeah, fair enough.
I mentioned the Yotes since Chayka is a Moneyball type of GM and Goblin's AHL numbers might get him excited, but at the same time I think he'd only be interested if the price was similar to what we paid for Pouliot. |

.@rayferrarotsn: The difficult part for me - was (signing older players) Jim's idea or the idea of the owner. Because it was a bad one. What they're doing right now is what they should have been doing four years ago. #canucks
