Yeah, let's not get a player who has an overtime Stanley Cup winning goal on his resume.
- jmatchett383

all of the personality crap aside where I would pause is a 29 year old player with 5 more years at 10.5 cap hit when you have young players to sign in the near future and 2 players already with 8 million cap hits.

Well, the Flyers are definitely a ".500" hockey club this year so mark your calendar, boys.
- Scoob

it's hard to imagine the flyers playing under this 16-15-3. even when they lost 10 straight, 5 were in OT, and they blew like 97 2 goal leads. i believe they're good enough to be a playoff team.

don't forget to count for 5v5 games lost
- YuenglingJagr

Oops, my bad. Turns out I needed new batteries in my abacus.

16-15-3 = 35 points
1-0-33 = 35 points

math is good

You can't just look at those numbers and say that is what is happening. That is where you get yourself into trouble. Same thing as using +/- to say Hagg is playing great.

There are specific reasons why Sanheim's corsi is higher than Manning's, and only one of them are because he is better. Sanheim hasn't played with MacDonald or Manning much, and Manning has to play with himself. Sanheim is usually limited in ice time when the Flyers have a lead, which is when the most shots against usually happen. He has a zone start advantage, though that isn't too big of a deal.

There are other stats to look at and also adjustments that are used to limit some of those effects I mentioned, but just pointing at corsi numbers and saying one is better than the other isn't correct and feeds the "flat staters"

How bout these numbers:

Manning in 33 games: 16-10-7
Sanheim in 35 games: 13-14-8

Metro is beat up a bit right now with multiple teams losing key players. Its a shame this past month has felt like 1 long break only a few games sprinkled in here and there but as the calendar turns the boys will be ready and should take advantage of the many games remaining in division.

It would've been hard for me to imagine them going on a 10 game losing streak this year.

After that streak it was hard for me to imagine them playing well enough to get into the thick of of the playoff race.

Since I'm not that slow a learner, it's not hard for me to imagine any win-loss scenario for this team. lol

They're a playoff bubble team and myriad things can/will happen along the way to April 7.

Buckle up...it's going to be a bumpy ride!

I know you're being sarcastic but I truly believe this off season we could see some of these shiny objects traded, for the right deal of course.

I'm cool with that this off-season. Not this TDL.

Totally. and as the Metro teams have been, generally speaking, trending downwards with both injuries and losing streaks, the Flyers have been trending upwards and gelling together nicely. The Provorov/Ghost pairing has really solidified their back end IMO and is really the 1st semblance of an actual top pairing the Flyers have showcased in quite some time. Lots of key roles have come into focus as well over the past month which is another dynamic the team has been missing. I'd like to see Neuvirth in net on Thursday but I don't see that happening.

Well that's why I said I'd then have to trade Voracek to make it work.

Kane, 1st rounder, top Chi prospect for Simmonds would be tough to pass up.

And yes, he had one off-ice incident as an immature, drunk 20-year-old 9 years ago. I acknowledge that. I know no current Flyers have ever had off-ice issues, especially our captain.

A few things I would ideally like to see happen in the off-season.
1) buy out Lehtera

2) let Manning walk in free agency

3) package Weise w/ higher end prospect even a pick as well to acquire a controllable young NHL forward.

I honestly don't want to trade Jake. I know his flaws but all in all he really provides something we don't have a lot of. A guy with good size who can really skate and is strong on the boards. I don't think his skill set is easily replaced. I mean, obviously without knowing exactly who the prospect is its hard to judge it fairly but I also don't want a 10.5 cap hit for a guy who will be 29-34 during the life of his contract.

1) definitely
2) I would love to resign him if it weren't for the coaching staffs obsession with playing him
3) definitely not

Agree with 1 and 2, 3 would depend on the return.

Edit: Actually, with Lehtera, I'd just waive him and ride out the last year as opposed to the cap hit since we have a few big names coming up in 2 summers.

I don't see how they are close to the cap in 2 summers without a major FA signing, which I also don't see them making

Oh you mean that call up that caused mass hysteria in this thread because he wasn't Lindblom.

Regardless how you want to spin it, the Flyers have better results with Manning in the line up. That's why Sanheim was sent down.

Provorov extension, Konecny extension, possible Simmonds extension, and both goalies UFA.

I am not eager to re-sign Simmonds. I know it probably happens and he club won’t deal him as they are near a playoff spot - but I would anyway.
