Sanheim is fully equipped right now to take on the role that he will be tasked to do in the NHL, problem is they didn't asked him to do it. Right now, he has NHL skating, hands and vision. And for some reason, they didn't ask him to use it. It's the thing where he gets most of his confidence from and asked him not to use it.
But all that is besides the main point. The fact is that players do develop in the NHL. On the very rare occasion does a player come in and automatically contribute. It usually takes a little bit of time. - VladDrag
Well that point is pretty obvious but that doesn't mean a player gets ice time or a role on the team for the purpose of their development. They need to be ready to contribute consistently before earning their coach's trust.
I've seen flashes of all the qualities you mentioned Sanheim has. Can't say I've seen them on display consistently . |

Honest question, has there really been much of an on ice difference in level of play between Hägg and Sanheim? Outside of Haggs leading in hits, I really don’t see it. Why does Hagg get such a pass over Sanheim? You watch closely almost every game Hägg has consistently made gaffs or turn puck over or blown his coverage. Just not sure why he gets a free pass over Sanheim every night? |

Do you think that Sanheim has seen the same matchups and tasked with the same on ice responsibilities that Hagg has been tasked with?

I don’t see him as safe like some. I think both players have their faults and solid play. I don’t see a wow with Hägg that says he really is outplaying Sanheim and should be in every night. I really watch Hägg close and there are many plays he just leaves you shaking your head. Why couldn’t a few nights in the press box like Sanheim work out for him? |

Elliot Friedman has been saying players likely to be moved at the TDL are Coyle and Pageau. - Pixote Andolini
I would be interested in both if I was the Flyers. More so Coyle as he is a former first rounder and has a 20 goal season under his belt. Pageau might be a good pick up too but I see him as more of a bottom 6 center. Coyle might be a better fit than Filppula with Voracek. I guess it all depends on what the asking price is though, if Minny wants a first rounder I wouldn't want to give that up. |

There have been a few short stretches of games where I felt that Hagg needed a reset and some games off but the coach never decided to do that. So much for the narrative that the coach punishes young players for making one mistake. Hagg is a rookie who overall has played very well in his role for a rookie placen in situations that really he shouldn't be in and at this point in time is a more capable NHL defenseman than Sanheim is. They're both different kinds of players and I think in the long run Sanheim will be a much, much better all around player than Hagg is but not right now. Sanheim right now is not a very effective player away from the puck and his puck skills and offensive contributions are not capable of off setting that right now. He just needs some more time. |

I believe Hagg has paired with most of the d-men at some point this season and has played in a variety of roles. Not everything has come with success its called growing pains. The biggest difference right now is Hagg plays a lot more like a man than Sanheim. One initiates contact the other gets pushed around by it but in the long run the ceiling is still higher for Sanheim. In do time my friends. |

Sir, I agree with every word you say. Hagg isn't great. Better than Manning though imo |

I agree with most of your statement here but the only role Hagg has been placed in a defensive role with lots of D zone starts and more than his fair share matched up against top lines in defensive situations.
