I think they are in a tough spot at the TDL where whoever they acquire should be below 30, but then that guy will block the rubs, frosts, vorobeyevs for the next years. . I guess that is the point of the TDL almost to get just rental players though...

I don't think they'll be in a tough spot at all. I can't really see them making an acquisition and it could be a good opportunity to move some personnel to make room for next season.

I look at teams like the Wild, Chicago, Calgary, Anaheim. Some of those bubble teams in the west. I mean the thing about Simmonds is a lot of people could have interest.

But I only trade him for exactly what I want.

I'd like to be wrong, but a Lindblom call up doesn't seem likely to me when they have Weise and Leier sitting there ready to play. I doubt Hextall likes having those guys on popcorn duty in 2018, even though he caused it by promoting Goulbourne and hanging on to Lehtera.

Goes back to roles...they have clear definitions of what certain players are to them and where they want them playing. I think if Raffl is out for an extended period of time (3-4 weeks +) we will see Lindblom because they are expecting him to come up into a "top 6" role. With the allstar break, a minor injury probably gives us Weise for a game or two

Depending on the roster player, I don't think they'd be "as good or better" by trading him. To remain as good or better by trading him, they player they'd be trading for would have to be as good or better than Simmonds, and why would a team do that and include high-grade assets as well.

Now, if Chicago wants to trade us Patrick Kane, a 1st, and a prospect for Simmonds, then sure.

As long as this team is where it's at in the standings, Simmonds isn't going anywhere.
