Look at his career time on ice.
He’s never come close to 20 min a game, yet still produces close to the same as O’Reilly in terms of efficiency.
You like basic stats and look at nothing beyond - sbroads24
Sure, but the Jets score a poop load of goals even when they were bad. The Sabres? Not so much.
They've already got 51 more goals than the Sabres this year. Basically a goal a game more. |

Ok... so let’s say it’s the full 2mil that he’s overpaid
1) what could/should we be doing with that 2mil to make us better?
Or
2) how can we be better spending that full 7.5mil?
Can we get a “Kucherov” for that?
If so... great
If it’s 2 average guys...
i don’t see how that gets us where we wanna go? - jdfitz77
The bottom line is ROR is productive. Here's the money that is working:
10 - Eichel
7.5 - ROR
6- Okposo
5.5 - Risto
I agree that Okposo isn't a core piece, but even so, that's 29 mil for next year. Projected cap is 78-82 mil. Fiddle with the 50 mil that sucks. |

Less - Boss34
Can u be less vague?
You’re making it seem like his value is plummeting
But at any rate...
since i actually respond when some asks me a direct question
I think we will do better than a “B” prospect and a 1st
When i said his value was “up”
It was based on the demand for the “best guy available on the market”
The reason i believe there was/is high demand for him is bc Botts raised the price
If his value was dropping,
it would’ve made zero since for Botts to raise the asking price
None of what I’m saying means i think we will get all of what Botts is asking for
But it’s still a good idea for him to do so
U can’t get Hall for Larson, or Forsberg for Erat unless u try for it
In the words of Dreger (on the Kane asking price going up),
“You can’t get what you don’t ask for” |

Thats not too bad . Still with ROR was at the 53.5-6 range.
Okposo , now that he is healthy is fitting in nice. And plays well with Jack |

I just can't get over the fact that you think his value is UP. If he was playing well , his value would be higher.
So maybe when kane was super hot and people on here thought he was irreplaceable and better than Jack his value was higher. Even to the sabres. He was scoring .
Now he's leveled off and so has his value. It's not like he's just had a bad few games. It's a month or so now. He just isn't noticeable as he was early in the season. - Boss34
The thing is once/if you have teams bidding against each other his last 15 games are largely irrelevant unless there was a catastrophic injury. His "value" is what another team is willing to pay, so his value could be inflated because there are multiple teams increasing their offer.
We know who Kane is at this point. He's in his 9th year. There are no more surprises in his game. He's going through an uncharacteristically bad stretch on a bad team. Is it "raising" his value, I doubt it, but it's also not taking the hit you seem to believe it is either, and the kicker is we'll never know.

no but some are suggesting we drop ror to the 3rd line when/if we are good
never heard of a 3rd line center making 7.5 per - homiedclown
Kessel's a 3rd line winger(wingers inherently make less money than centers) making $8M. |
|
|
|
Yeah, we can only hold $500K if we were to trade him. I don't think you can hold bonus money. And ROR only makes $1M a year, the rest are bonuses. - Wetbandit1
That's not accurate. Retained Salary can include bonuses.

Well put with the fiddle with the bottom guys, but okposo and eichel have been playing pretty well together.
They could be kutchorov and stamkos |

Ok,
But he played really well for them
And I’d bet anything that they didn’t even think to consider Perrault for that spot on Team Canada |
