A couple more thoughts after I watched the Bolts-Flyers game last night, then onto the Sabres
- Bolts have unbelievable talent, fast and skilled. Passes are tape to tape and in position so the receiving players continues forward in full flight, rather than losing steps to gather a pas either behind or in their feet.
- as skilled as Tampa is, they have zero grit...which COULD come back to bite them in the playoffs....Kane would be a welcome addition to that team for a playoff run.
- Bolts played a solid game without Hedman nor Sergachev...they are scary good.
- Callahan is still a friggin beast to play against...he has nearly 0 points, but he plays a role on that team that simply cannot be denied.

- In watching the Sabres, they are a complete joke of a roster, save a few. It was like watching an ECHL team out there...and that was one of their “better” games ... that says it all. Passes in the feet, behind, completely missing. To borrow a phrase from soccer, they play “banger ball”...get the puck throw it anywhere and chase it..absolutely no rhyme or reason to it...pathetic play.
- in view of the above, they need a serious influx of talent, a lot more than that which is in the pipeline. Sure, there are some interesting players coming...but to be a contender they need for their scouting department to hit on there 1st 2 rounds this year and next..they need to pull a combined Middlestadt/Guhle “-esq” selection out of the hat. Simply cannot be another Nylander, Girgenson, Grigerenko, Reinhart flop.
(I know Those two were picked in different years, the point is to achieve that level of success in both years)
- don’t be fooled by the Western swing...they played 2 of the worst teams in the league...wait for years-end, it will be revealed as so.
- can Lehner be anymore inconsistent? Back to back shut outs after games in which he couldn’t stop a beach ball. WTF?

Thank God for February we only play good teams, except a single game vs. Ottawa.

TRADE REINHART AT A HIGH.
Continue to play him with ROR and get him much needed points, but get him out of here.

Put Kane back with Eichel, it is clear they have zero interest in re-signing him, else why wouldn’t they be negotiating with his agent...yet nothing, not a single call as I understand it...so get him some points and hot to dispel the “gone cold” aspect.

Screw this year, draft top 5; they absolutely need to.

It’s tempting to look at the number of games lost by only one goal (or one goal and and EN) and to look at this Western swing and ask if the team is actually closer than we have thought.

They won’t disclose who it is out of respect apparently.

-a week ago the sky was falling...wanted to send the team to Seattle and Buffalo gets the new team
-this week after much stronger play, but against two week sister teams, and thoughts of previous 45 games is an aberration.

Going 20-10-3 would give us 80 points, well within the lottery limits. This team isn't good enough to do that anyway, so relax and try to enjoy quality hockey for once.

I would think its Benjamin and his knee. Matthews they wouldn't do a conference for if his recovery didn't go well. Other options are Tyrod and concussion concerns or Glenn with ankle problems
