It's such a weird season for me. Call me optimistic, but if they could just get the defense to play average, and get healthy, and be in a playoff spot, I have no issue taking this group into the playoffs.

I get the whole reasoning of getting picks for next year, but goddamn it, I'm a fan and want to see them do well this year.

Who was he paired with? I miss a lot of west coast games.

He was with D'Angelo.
And you're right, every D-man on both sides made some mistakes, but Smith literally made the wrong choice, or play or didn't execute EVERY single time he was in the play in the 1st period, with ONE exception. And I believe that one play was something minor, but I don't remember now.

Well, that's a crazy concept!
I feel the same way. I get wanting to amass the picks and get players to ensure the future is bright, but can't be upset watching things like Mac getting 2 goals, or Miller bouncing back with a great game, or Nash lighting it up. This is my team and I want to see them do well every game!!

I'm with you here. I want a shut-out every game for Hank, Zucc and Miller to get at least a point per game, Nash to score a goal, etc...and for someone to get their a$$ kicked for taking a run at one of our players.

I just can't root for them to suck. Even in the dark days when playoffs were a pipe dream, I would still cheer every win.

The Athletic reminds me of the time all those prominent sportswriters went to "The National" around 1990 or so. I worked at a newspaper/magazine store in those days, remember that paper well.
