This offseason, the Sabres will have 24 mil in cap space. The year after, they'll have 36 mil (assuming no new moves)
Between now and then, the only NHL playesr due for a raise are Reinhart, and Antipin if you want him, which should be modest.
Point is, my money is on the Sabres keeping him for the duration of the contract. He's not inhibiting them from making any moves, really. They could bring in a really good Dman and slide bogo down to the 3rd pair fairly easily - jcragcrumple
I have nothing against keeping him he just can't stay healthy here. We have never seen what he can do cause he is always damn hurt. The curse is alive and active |

We have already wasted 3 years of his career. Time to go out and get him help - MCGUIZZY
Could not agree more. Not like we have an owner not willing to spend we just need the guy who picks the right player(s). Maybe Botts is the guy but only time will tell. |

The bogo curse. We might have had a shot at moving him this year - lulags
Let him have the surgery. Let him have all summer to heal. Hopefully he can come into next season and be halfway decent. Then, as soon as ANY team shows interest, dump him. Don't think about it. Don't hold out for a better offer. Don't worry about upsetting the locker room. Trade him and move on. |

My only concern is that he will try to find a Guentzel or Sheary.
I don't know if Jack is at the level of Crosby to make 2nd or 3rd line players on most teams seem like a first line player. |

Anyone see all the ridiculous trade tweets from Leaf fans for Eichel? Worse transom of the ones I see on here.

Yeah, i think the best thing the Sabres can do is bring in a guy to play above him, and keep Bogo's minutes low. Maybe throw him some PP2 time (he does have a nice clapper). Then next deadline retain 2 mil if they really want him gone, otherwise, just let him play out the contract and hope that reduced minutes and a relatively healthy season means that he's productive |

I'm sure they liked the chemistry between him and Matthews. Just start tweeting Kane and a 1st for Matthews |

It starts at the draft. Need to get a high end winger (if no Dahlin). I know the defense needs alot of help but im of the mind that building up the offense around Eichel is the more important move riight now. Get your D-men later in the draft and trade/sign for one or 2 in the off season. |

I disagree. It's easier to pick up top quality wingers who dont fit their teams current build than it is to pick up top quality defenders, who are rarely if ever made available outside the draft.
Get the dman through the draft. Find the winger whereever you might. |

Absolutely not. The Leafs aren't moving their 20 yr old franchise center unless they think they're getting a franchise center back, plus interest for a risk they don't need to take.
That conversation begins and ends with Eichel, but most likely there's no conversation at all. |

it would appear to me that a team interested in a rental would prefer to move sooner rather than closer to the deadline, to allow player to get acclimatised to the new team, benefit from an extra month of production and integration. If memory is correct (too lazy to look up), some of the more tenured GMs tend to do this, such as Rutherford. Anyhow, optimistic our GM will not wait until trade deadline and have too much on the go. If I had an MBA, that's what my plan would be. |

It would be nice to somehow get two picks in the top 5. Trade Kane to a team on the edge of the playoffs in the West. Hope they miss the playoffs, and hope their ball ends up in the top 3.
Then get a winger and a defenseman.
Seems like a great plan. |

Mittelstadt may be a good contributor, but we need someone sooner.

Nash

Bailey

Get one of these left wings, probably in that order. Hornqvist or Stone wouldn't be bad adds either. Would even consider Grabner if the LW options fall through.
Anyone have interest in Mike Green? |

I still plan on it. Just not at the top. Hoping to get a mid-late first at the deadline and use that pick on a d-man. Either way you still need to add via trade/free agency as the odds of that d-man taken in the draft contributing next year are low. The wingers at the top could help next season. |

JVR could be ok. Don't think he's elite material.
Nash. GTFO of here.
Neal. No reason for Vegas to trade him. He's got a few good years of hockey left, probably.
Bailey? That could work, if this season isn't a fluke.

There are a lot of homers in that fan base, but there are some decent people, too.
But the worst is the 2 or 3 hate-filled trolls that always hang out in Garth's blog. |

I could do some research and come up with a few interesting names for wingers who could be good with Eichel, but I’ll spare Fitz the aggravation |
