I live in western CT... and regularly visit family in southern ontario.

dependent on weather... of course... I'd suggest you drive through Albany and continue on to Utica and then head north towards Ontario... cross over at the 1000 Islands Prkwy near Kingston (home of Don Cherry )...

then drive into Toronto from the east.

avoid going through the Buffalo, Niagara and western portion of Lake Ontario.

- BorjeFan4Ever

The only thing I hate... which is super minor.... is the two lane section of the 401 out there because semis always try and pass eachother. Guess what takes forever? A SEMI GOING 101km/h TRYING TO PASS A SEMI GOING 100km/h!!

(Disclaimer I spent the last two weekends in PEC and it kept happening on the drive )

My two cents:

Yes, that southern edge of Lake Ontario can be brutal for weather.

But if they are doing it early Saturday, , and if they aren't calling for a foot of snow, I'd rather go through Niagara - I'm assuming they are staying in downtown Toronto, so up through Niagara will save them about an hour.

One more travel tip:

Porter Airlines flies to Billy Bishop Toronto City Centre Airport (yes, a name longer than the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge). From there, it's a 5 minute, free shuttle bus to downtown Toronto (they drop you off a block north of the ACC).

Every other airline flies to Pearson International Airport - which is a 30 minute, $12 train ride to downtown.

Air Canada flies to the Island Airport as well.

I could be wrong on this, but I don't think they have Toronto-Boston flights there.

It's the one thing I absolutely franking love about driving in the US: they only drive in the left hand lane to pass.

It franking blows my mind.

And as soon as you cross the border, stupid Canadians are driving the speed limit in the far lane, oblivious to the traffic piling up behind them.

With just six active defensemen, the Leafs may have to make another emergency recall from the Toronto Marlies to give them a seventh blueliner (most likely Martin Marincin) in case of sudden illness or injury.

- mikeinbuffalo

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Say it aint so Mike! We were promised we'd never see Marincrap again! Promised! Just play Matt Martin on defense. Anything but Marincin!

Oh my...

oh jeezus...

Habs fans can't be that delusional can they?

Weber might be interesting if the price was reasonable(no 1st round picks) and the Habs retain $2M a year.

I would suggest flying over a road trip in the winter for sure though.

Ahh memories of driving through the adirondacks at night time in january in a 1994 dodge caravan with all season tires, no working heat and a mexican driver.

I thought I was gonna die.

not trying to argue... but the border crossing time is negligible at Kingston.. not so much at Buffalo... except of course when in Buffalo you get to aura of JackECHL

Quebec tickets people for not actively passing people in the left lane.

It's basically the one and only redeeming quality of living in this province outside of beer at the convenience stores.

Buffalo border crossing can be insanely quick. Almost feels like you're falling into a trap. Been there a couple times when we were the only vehicle coming back.

Lake effect can be brutal for sure, but for the most part that only affects a thin line off the lake. There'll be 2 inches of snow by the airport and 3 feet a couple miles away.

That's only on the Island of Montreal.

With the way people drive from Montreal, I estimate that this law saves thousands of pedestrian lives every year.

Leafs fan perspective

Carrick, Bracco, Bozak, Soshnikov 2nd

Weber (2M retained), Phillip Danault

"let's face it.. .at this point Weber is a cap dump"

Habs Fan perspective

Nylander, Rielly, 2 x 1st Rounders

Weber, Plekanec

"Leafs will take our proven veterans and be automatically better, Weber has years left"

Quebec City too and a number of other places. I agree - safe, but you need to keep reminding yourself to not turn.
