He played 9 games and got sent down for being poop

Waited a year, played 3 games and never played in the NHL again. What more proof do you want? Seriously?

Jesus christ I am not saying they are the same right now... I'm saying it's a cautionary tale to temper expectations.

Percy showed up, was putting up points in his first few games and logging 20+ min. He looked really good and something that could potentially be a bright spot... then he dropped off around his 6-7th game and was demoted after his 9th.

We're 8th overall, a couple tweaks and who knows what could happen.

I love that the Central is something like +125 goal differential with all teams being positive. Then the Atlantic is around +110 for the top 3 teams but the bottom 5 drag it down like -165

Lou compared dermott to rafalski in an interview last year.

he doesn't usually give that much info.

maybe it's the blue kool-aid talking, but i don't believe his play is a fluke.

I don't know what games you were watching. I saw a player who was smart, knew what plays to make but had no skills to back it up. He got sent down because he was not good. I don't see any similarities in the situation.

You want a similar situation? The Goat, a 1st round pick bust that had two stints in the NHL but sucked. Got sent down both times and probably won't get another chance for a long time

You should know a good player when you see them. Same thing with Willie, Marner and Matthews. No one was doubting they were going to be good after their first 10-15 games

Glad to see the Leafs go with more skilled lines and D and get results. That game felt a lot like the first 10, where coincidentally Polak wasnt playing either.

Moving Komarov off of Kadri line gives the Leafs a dangerous 2nd line also.

Its just 1 game but what a game

I see a huge difference between Percy and Dermont. Percy had decent passing and was calm with the puck, but he was also very slow. Dermont has wheels to burn, knows when to rush the puck and when not too, makes good outlet passes, and unlike other d-men on our team (Gardiner) seems to have the ability to actually defend. If he continues this type of play for the rest of this year can we finally talk about unloading Jake 'Ballet Dancer' Gardiner?

I see no reason to not like where his game is headed. I have since the season started with his play on the Marlies.

*Waiting to hear from UG that the only reason we're in a playoff position is because our division is weak, not because we have the 8th overall best record in the league

*Also waiting to hear that we won't win a playoff round, because only the top teams win

Yep, you can tell he has a lot of talent and is already being forcred to play against good competition with the injuries. He has not looked out of place. It dosnt take a genius to see this kid has a bright future

Only the teams in the top 10 of the standings have a chance, so Leafs have no chance whatsoever. Guaranteed first round exit against Boston.

We won't win a playoff round because only top teams score empty net goals from inside the crease. Whereas, we are still trying to score from center ice

Interesting how positive Millen was on Dermott being, if I recall, possibly a top three D guy, and seemed very sure that he's a got a bright NHL future ahead of him. Hope hope!
