I mean, last year they defied their "on paper" expectations. This year they are absolutely the "on paper" Oilers. I assumed it would be Talbot slamming back to Earth that would cause it but he's only been meh rather than outright bad. Problem is that is the going rate. Is there anyone else out there with as much experience? Not really. He is being paid for non-skill factors as much as skill ones. But the big rumour in Vancouver this morning is that he will go to the Islanders for a 2nd rounder as they have 2 second round picks.

Yeah, sure, the Islanders will lose their best centre in Tavares, but if I were you, I wouldn't look forward to the Rangers having to face Bracco, Bozak and Stuart Percy five games a year.

Yeah, I know - it's a helluva package to give up, but what can we say? Garth Snow is going to manhandle Lamoriello.
