Choke is one of my favorite books of all-time.

The film version was TERRIBLE. A travesty. It completely missed the tone of the book on all levels.

Of course Sam was good in it, but so was Vernon Wells in Circuitry Man and that's one of the worst movies ever made...

Well, I mean, it was a slap-stick comedy... the book is NOT a comedy... maybe (in before triggered or racial comment) a black comedy, but it had dark themes...

It's literally about a guy who was kidnapped by his mother as a child, is a sex-addict as an adult and becomes a con-artist who fakes choking for pity-cash and gets convinced he's the re-incarnation of Jesus by a clinically insane women pretending to be a nurse and comes to believe he can time-travel and ends up almost dying from an anal bead being lodged in his rectum before finally blowing his sphincter open when an angry mob stones him to near-death and the book ends with him lying in a month's worth of fecal build-up while his body rots from the inside out due to a bacterial infection from the lodged fecal material seeping into his blood-stream.

How the movie failed to capture any of the tone of the book completely blows my mind.
