I call Ulf “Dirty Ulf” reflecting his placement in many polls that call him the most dirty or one of the most dirty players in NHL history. A player who other players said would try to end careers. Why the Hawks hired this classless person is beyond me.
Walleye1 breakaways and 2 on 1s that are easily created by easy open passes because a D-Man or both D-Man are too high up-ice are not blameable on the forwards. Whether I call him Ulf or Dirty Ulf doesn’t change the fact that the Hawks are a nightmare defensively because Samuelson is an awful coach. I guarantee you that there is dissension in the room and that Samuelson is despised by the players and Q and Dineen. - Z3Hawk
I’m not sure about that, there may be dissension, sounds like there was last year with Kitchens. I’m not sure the coaching staff are all on the same page. It sounded like Dineen and some of the players were instrumental in getting Kitch shipped out and the end of last season. So I wouldn’t be surprised if all the coaches aren’t seeing eye to eye. |

If you have two D-Men back there isn’t a problem. Listen to Soupy Campbell - a D-Man should be able to see and have the 5 opppsing players in front of him. Not quickly busting past. |

Toews got mad once, so there is that. This is the product of Bowman investing too much in core players who simply were no longer worth the cost. In Bowman's defense he could not have known 19 would become such an ordinary player at 29 and Seabrook's decline has been just as bad, though his contract was highly questionable when signed. The money given to those guys ideally would have been less and they could have put even better players around them. NOT good enough to carry a team like this, but are paid like it. - kwolf68
There seemed to be a lot underneath Toews' anger on that play. He looked like a guy who has took a beating a few years ago that he hasn't - and may never - recovered from. His only hope is to avoid another beating / injury. If Tootoo were on the roster, he'd play next game! |

On the 3rd line no less!! I'm not a Bouma detractor as much as most are here but given a role, coached to it the guy is willing and will carry out orders. But to spot start him in roles he's not capable of is akin to putting a 300lb man in centerfield then scratching a hole in your head when he can't get to balls in the gap.
And nice catch on Murphy. You healthy scratch him apparently cuz he ain't getting it then down the line play him on his offside.
What is the organIzational plan? Push back guys in the bottom 6 then 86 that 35 games in. Retool on the fly then you sit Forsberg for an ECHLer and healthy scratch a Murphy? ... These are valuable evaluation opportunities and some are wasted. NHL games are prime real estate not to be wasted. Can Forsberg handle being a #1 on the ice and off, between the ears? Don't know cuz a clearly can't handle the speed of this level ECHL guy is given his starts.
I wonder if management and Q even know the right questions to ask as far as a rebuild/retool is concerned while valuable NHL proving ground games are wasted. - Mr Ricochet
My number one reason for getting another coach in here. This season is all but a wash, so get someone in with the sole objective of finding the best fit (or confirming the "no go" decision) for each player. |

2 on 1, Murphy's turn over is what lost the game last night, defenseman caught to deep, forwards are part of the problem, but not the entire problem - BetweenTheDots

Oh it appears nothing is going to change with the defensive system and responsibility of each player on the ice. Is there dissension among players over this system?
Well the outcome of this season will undoubtedly be that McDonough fires someone, or someone resigns from his job. Bowman will weigh in on the direction the team takes as he plans to improve the roster..... Then we will learn if Samuelson is ok or not.
We might gain insight into whether Samuelson's system is still on, because certainly the capability of players performing in the system and the forwards contribution are part of the problem.
And we do not know for sure if some of the U.S. angst is accurate. Until the season ends maybe we can choose to talk about others things, though. Like an earlier post said, only add the recalls and any collegiate signs to the list of things to look forward to seeing the rest of the way. Um...we aren't going to make it to the post season....we all can agree on that now.
Maybe we need Bowman to bring in J Holl. Or Rozy will help stem the tide. LOL |

They got one point in a road game. Not terrible. Overtime was designed to allow anything to happen so every team should win about half the time. The two goalies have been playing perhaps a little bit better than expected but I hope we get the old Crawford back. Too much unwarranted crap piled on #7. He's only one guy. Others have been worse. I have said several times last year when guys wanted to trade him that Hinostroza was going to have an epiphany one day and sure enough he is having that this year. We have some pretty good young players with thanks due our excellent scouting dept. Too bad the GM counter balances that. |

Probably because the Hawks are more than willing to take a POS live Savard who made a habit of spitting at other players and making him one of the revered ambassadors. Personally have never seen any behavior in my life that is more disrespectful of another human being than this type of behavior, and all that has happened because if it is to put him in a position of fan admiration. |
