Like I said, look no further than another former 1C who was never a plus skater in Jonathan Toews. 19 has lost a step and he is now producing at a bottom level 2C/high end 3C level. Tavares is a worse skater than Toews at 27, and Schmaltz has been thriving in his natural position at Center. When 8 adds more muscle and improves his faceoffs slightly, he is essentially the 1C on this team (like Olcyzk said last postgame). This is a silly conversation. Now if we're talking Toews for Tavares? Sign me up! - EnzoD
I agree there. The defense is priority way before superstar trades. |

I imagine the Hawks will pick anywhere from 5-15 this year. Darth mentioned Dobson, but Evan Bouchard, Bode Wilde, Jared McIsaac, and Ty Smith are all highly touted defense prospects I'd like to see Stan pursue. Tankathon.com has Tkachuk falling to #5 overall which would probably be the best possible spot for the Hawks to pick if they stay .500 the rest of the year. Hawks simulated #12 overall and selecting 6'2" 195lb Body Wilde who is going to Harvard next year. |

I agree. I'd absolutely trade Kane for Tavares (with a re-sign), but I'd make a move for a top 4 D before any of that. - JRoenick97
It is imperative to determine whom is going to coach as in head coach and if Ulf works well with that head coach.
Next you have to figure how likely are you to either draft a player with size, nasty edge yet mobile who can play a speed game. Is that dman or a power forward there at our (traded up for?) top ten choice?
You also have to have your eyes on the candidates for the offensive player in our third pair. Because we have some very good candidates but we just need to let each of them.continue to develop. There may even be someone who fills that role, then is traded because we have someone else come along for that role.
The Great hope on defense as it now stands is that a Forsling or a Jokiharju becomes a legitimate force on defense. Skill wise they both have what it takes, but can they handle each aspect of the game - defensively, their body strength & durability, Probably looking at a two year window before they can learn to fly, maybe soar. Meanwhile, is there a #1 round choice and what about Carlsson and Tuolola. We need to see what we have in a heck of a lot of players now, in the summer camp, and in training camp.
The team is going nowhere until the defense is better. |

You and everyone who responds getting mad at you are super annoying.
You just bicker at each other all day. If you guys don't agree on something, you start with all the wise ass poop back and forth.
Its lame. Disagree all you want, that's fine, but quit being pussies about it |

would be great if they won tonight, but all it means is they picked up 1 pt on the Flames, a team in front of them in standings and knocked 2 games off the calendar. no real progress. that is if we win tonight, and we have lost 4/5 i believe of our last home games.

Nothing wrong with heated debates, its just ridiculous reading through pages of numerous posters trying to flame this guy or the Preds troll, everyone comes off as morons |

Just spitballin but
There was rumbling in Texas when Spezza was a healthy scratch. Could Hitchcock be involved in changing the look of the team by trading Spezza for ? And trading for AA?
No I DO Not mean to say Spezza coming here but maybe AA takes flight from the Windy City? |

I don't know. AA has been solid all year long. I like him in the lineup. Depends on the return obviously. Definitely not for spezza though |

I honestly haven't watched much of him or paid any attention since his Ottawa days, but even in his prime i wasn't a huge fan of his. |

Hockey Trade...
AA to Pittsburgh for Cole
Who says no? Maybe Pit throws in a conditional draft pick depending on if Cole resigns with the Hawks or not, but even if he did leave from FA that's 4.5M off the cap that could be used to sign another D-man in FA. - Savetheembers33
Not a whole lot available there this spring |
