Not all but stop making excuses for him
He had to move guys yes but did he move the right ones?
Some yes & some no - Goalie-33
The Bickell contract was a total joke
Down year & played with 19 & 88 in Playoffs
Even Dahawks99 could have played well with them in prime |

Move anisimov. Find a way to move Seabrook. All of a sudden the Hawks now have 10-11M in cap relief and who knows what can happen this summer.
Realistically I do not see Kane, Toews, Crawford, or Keith being moved.
there is absolutely NO WAY Brent Seabrook will be traded. There is not one team who would sniff him at 7 million per year. I don't think the Hawks could move him if they retained 50% salary. |

I hear you, but if had told me a year ago that Hjalmarsson would waive his NTC for Arizona I would have thought you were crazy. - DarthKane
He had a MNTC, but I agree no way I would have thought he’d agree to the Yotes. I can’t remember, was he asked for or submit a ten team list or did Stan just ask him to approve the Yotes. BTW interesting side note got to keep his MNTC with the Yotes. |

Blues sure hit the jack pot with Carter Hutton
Bowman figured after the 3rd Cup he was invincible and he had job security until 2020

What? I hope he's just standing in for AA. Really like what that 3rd line brought last game. |

This roster isn't good enough and the Blackhawks are kind of stuck.
There isn't enough of a core left to mortgage the future and try to win a cup.
But the contracts on that aging core are so bad, it would cost too much to move them. (The best case scenario is that the CBA gets reopened in 2019 and they can dump one or two of these albatross contracts via compliance buyout.)
And then there is the marketing aspect of all of this. What do they do?
I think they keep the band together one more year. Kane, Crawford, Toews, Keith, Seabrook - and hope they come back better than they were this year. Moving AA seems like a possibility. Wingels, Bouma, sure, who cares? But between now and next season, they really need to add some guys who are in their primes who can play top 4 and top 6. They could be rentals whose contracts expire at the end of next season, could be younger guys who are winding down their ECLs or second contracts, or it could be free agents. Give up some young guys if they have to but don't mortgage the future. Then reassess a year from now. Hopefully they'll be in the playoffs and may be buyers at the TDL. But if not, purge.

I don't see any of the core waiving their NMC. The the problem with Seabrook is that you will have to not only pay someone to take him, but he will also need to waive. I don't see him waiving to go to a non playoff team, and most playoff teams would value the salary cap space that Seabrook would take up, over the payment you would give them. He simply has too many years left for a team to gamble on the hope that he returns to form.
I think the best bet is to make some minor moves, and hope that missing the playoffs lights a fire under the majority of this team for next season. - VT001
Why would they want to stay? This can't be fun for them. Put them on a Cup contending team, they could really be into it. Closer to home, further away from home, whatever. This is not the same group they won cups with, they feel it too. Who wants to be part of a rebuild when they could contribute to a winner. Depending on where they're going, I think they'd waive. |

He made a bad play that led to a goal. So did Keith though. I don't like him getting pulled for 1 mistake. That just kills confidence. |

They have money, families, and friends in Chicago. It's home. They have 3 cups already. They're not gonna waive. |

I suspect Q's mercurial handling of disciplinary actions (benching, demotions) is a huge reason for the suspected issues with effort, morale, rift between vets and new guys, etc. He has always done it, but it's particularly harmful for young players. |

Read somewhere that OEL and other swedes on the team had something to do with his decision

Eh, he's benched Sharp, Seabs, and now demoted Saad this season. It's just Keith and Toews really, but Toews isn't making the mistakes Keith is. |

Interesting 'matter of fact' statement. Can't wait to hear what else your sources have for us next. Or maybe your personal connection to the players. |

NMCs are a just a cost of doing business when re-signing or signing veteran players. Look around the league, almost all players eligible for NMCs get one of some variety. The only way to forgo a NMC is for a GM to pay a premium in the dollar value of the contract.
NMCs give the players some level of control, but it doesn't mean they can't be traded. - DarthKane
Without a full NMC I’d say Seabrook could have still been signed. As far as the cost of doing business here’s a list of teams and the number of full NMCs on each team’s roster:

* Anaheim Ducks 4
* Arizona Coyotes 1
* Boston Bruins 5

Deceiving, maybe.... https://www.thefourthperiod.com/no-trade-clauses/
Look at NTC along with NMC. Calgary/Detroit/Ottawa/SJ/Caps/etc look great compared to the Hawks when looking at NMC, but add in NTC... |
