Yeah right, they tried that and Q is benching literally everyone who has any of that supposed "grit." Until Q + Stanbo get the ax, this team will be forever soft as baby poop.

Good point...just look at Tampa Bay as the model for success. The Lightning have built their team with the biggest and toughest players on the market.

def,

Brayden Pointe - 5'6?
Kucherov - 5'7?
Johnson - 5'9?
Palat - Maybe 6 ft?

I'm sure I'm missing some of their other bruisers

I could care less about Tampa, the whole point was Domi is the kind of player they targeted after getting crushed physically by Nashville last year. They went out and got some of those "gritty" type players and now they're all riding the bench. You read into stuff a bit too much sometimes Darth.

Jeeze, thought we were talking about forwards.

Thought we got over the bickering at each other hump Murph, but apparently not.

Noted.

You cant deny though that if the forward or D-man is skilled enough, then size can be overcome.

Oh wait.. yeah Q benched that 4th line that was pretty damn effective for what they did. The Bouma, Wingels, Hayden line more then held its own. Most consistent line this team had.

consistent at what though? Definitely not offensive production. Consistent energy shifts? Yes, i would agree with that. But they didn't really do much else.

Sorry Mike, I'm in a mood today (my bad). I agree with your second point...my point is hits (which do matter) and standing up for your teammates mean absolutely nothing to the Hawks upper mgmt.

I don't think they're actively looking to sign guys just for hit stats, that's pointless. But i don't think they actively shy away from tough players either.

Bouma is a trainwreck of a hockey player and Q trotted him out there for damn near half the season. The only thing Bouma is good for, is hitting people or blocking shots, and he's usually out of position to block shots because he went to try and hit someone.

I love tough players, and agree the team could use some, but they have to be able to contribute something besides hits and face washes with their gloves after whistles.

I agree, the Bouma experiment failed miserably. However, Hayden should be up with the big club and at this point I'd like to see what Martinsen brings. Let's be honest, this is just a year to see who should be on the team next year. There is very little chance this team makes the playoffs this year and 0 chance of a cup, so why not on the Martinsen front? He's a big boy who has some physicality (better or worse than Buoma remains to be seen).

I don't want to go down the Martinsen rabbit hole again.

If he ever gets a shot and proves he belongs, i'll gladly eat my words, but I think I'm safe on that one.

Bring up Dahlstrom if you want a big guy. He supposedly can at least play defense reasonably well. and he's a big boy.

Agree on Hayden, i like him, and would be fine with him up on the big club.

I really don’t get why we’re starting Glass???
- walleyeb1

Because Q said that he was giving the net to whatever earned it,Glass got a point last game so carries on while Forsberg lost his last start.

Hey DiaperRash,

Even more good news. Did you know that the next game that Seabrook steps on the ice for, the puke mustard wearing Predators will still not have won one Cup, while the Hawks have won three since 2010. Have a nice day Slappy!

Hey Slap Richard,

Your day will come too with all the big contracts and zero Stanley Cups. Enjoy it while you have a good team because it will not last. Go troll the Blues blog.

Eh, he's benched Sharp, Seabs, and now demoted Saad this season. It's just Keith and Toews really, but Toews isn't making the mistakes Keith is.
- JRoenick97

who is going to replace either of them on this team? As much as they are both underperforming Toews is still the best center on this team and Keith is still be best defensemen.

Vegas has been proving they can win all season and I think they can play tight checking hockey. Maybe they will make a big splash and trade for Karlsson out of Ottawa and try to go all in.
