Man oh man did Foley throw Brandon Saad under the bus on Saturday night or what? The Golden Boys 19 & 88 cannot be blasted on air, but Foley held nothing back on his assessment of Saad's play. Konroyd tried to say something about Saad being a great power forward, Foley quickly slammed Konroyd on that statement too, something to the effect, "where's the power, there isn't any power there!!." - ChicagoHope
While I am disappointed that the Hawks are not playing better, I have been around the game long enough to know that all good things come to an end. Those of us who have been fans for decades, we remember the long stretches of bad times. Losing certainly sucks, no doubt, but it also makes winning all the more sweeter.
I will always be grateful to "the core", "Q", Tallon, Bowman, Mike Smith, etc;, and all the players who have worn the Hawks jersey during the recent years of success. It has been a fun ride, and rest assured, we will see another great run in the future, just hope we do not have to wait as long this time. With a couple of key moves, this run may not necessarily be done either!
Being a great team assures you of nothing. Ask the Washington Capitals about being a great team with a lot of regular season success. Nashville may have already seen it's window closed, with younger teams already chasing them down, like the Jets and Flames. Winning it once is great, three times, well.....hope you get to experience it DiaperRash, but I doubt it.

Toews said as much in an interview last week. - JRoenick97
Everyone is better when they play with a future HoF guy like Hossa. The guy was the best on the team in board battles and before the last couple seasons he was able to consistently the power his way toward the net. One hell of a winger, and we only got him on the later end of his career, but just for per conversation purpose, he was such a force offensively in his younger days, considering he didn't join the league until the so called golden age of goal-tending where goals are harder to come by.
Hossa's first 11 full seasons in the NHL
825 GP 363 G 406 A 769 Points +137 0.93 PPG
Kane's first 11 seasons (includes this one that isn't complete)
792 GP 305 G 499 A 804 Points +73 1.01 PPG
Toews' first 11 seasons (includes this one that isn't complete)
769 GP 286 G 369 A 655 Points +205 0.85 PPG
You could make the argument that Hossa was a better individual player than either Kane or Toews up until this point in their career in terms of the regular season, but he didn't have the playoff success as early in his career.
The good news is when Chicago next has a home playoff game in 2020 the Seabrook contract will only have 4 years left on it
Big Karkass- you sill glad you got the hell out of Illinois? - VopatsRash
Turris's new deal (6m for 6) kicks in new year, as he turns 29. Bonino and Craig Smith with multiple years at $4.25, as they turn 30 and 28. Those will hurt soon. The better Fiala does, the more he'll command after next season as an RFA.
The vaunted 'big four', who have been great admittedly, will all be 30 in 3 years. Subban has many years left a $9M, Josi needs a big raise in 3 years from his current $4M.
It's not all sunshine in Nashville, especially with an owner who doesn't usually spend to the cap. Rinne is 35, Johansen+Turris+Subban+ Emelin have all been locker room distractions of some kind at one point or another. Let's see what happens when they miss a cup again.
Also, never forget the 2015 Playoff placards the Preds handed out to fans on 'how the game works'. HAHAHAHAH

Saad looks to have zero confidence taking on defenders with the puck, and even less shooting the puck. This is hopefully as bad as he can be, he is only 25. Toews lacks explosion in his skating. There is no burst, no ability to beat defenders off the rush with speed, and combine that with his diminished strength down low and his puck handling/dekes going to crap.....he just isn't getting it done anywhere near the level the Hawks need him to. - EnzoD
How is zero confidence connected to being a step behind the play every f'n shift, never using the body, never getting to the front of the net for rebounds or deflections? He's lucky to only being demoted to RW on the 4th line instead of Rockford.
Bowman could bring up Ville Pokka and put him on RW and get as much as Saad is giving.

I agree with you man. He's been a complete non-factor for quite a while now.

Due to my geographic location, a lot of people are surprised I'm a die hard Hawks fan, and they tell me how they Chicago is such a good team. I usually explain how I've always been a fan and I stress how I'm enjoying the ride while it lasts. I remember the bad years where the owners and management ran the team into the ground and this team has given us memories that many other fans don't get to experience.
It might be easier for me to swallow a season like this because I'm investing more time than money (I can't be a season ticket holder) but things can change quickly. A lot has gone wrong this season to bring the Hawks to where they are and many of the issues are compounding. I hope they don't get too drastic with the changes yet.

There are a lot of die hard Hawks fan in western Canada i am one to we love the Hawks

Don't be so certain. Remember that your Preds were on the outside looking in at this point last year so anything can happen. I'm of the opinion that they don't. The good news is that when I go to the Madhouse I can see our recent Stanley Cup Banners. Unlike your sorry a$$ with absolutely nothing. Yet you still come here to just add nothing go take care of your Vagina Rash you pathetic loser
there is absolutely NO WAY Brent Seabrook will be traded. There is not one team who would sniff him at 7 million per year. I don't think the Hawks could move him if they retained 50% salary. - kwolf68
Edmonton would be dumb enough to take that deal and send someone like RNH the other way. A straight swap for Sekera would be ok. Even Kris Russel (who is terrible) + some futures would be fine for 3 years.
I'm sure Florida would take a flyer at him to help the younger guys along.
There are certainly places he could go and may not be totally opposed to going. The Campbell deal had a higher hit and was thought to be impossible to move but that happened with a few bad dollars coming the other way.

Edmonton will say sure we will take Seabs, but you have Lucic coming back the other way.

Gotta give to get. Those 50 points on the left side of 8 and 88 wouldn't be the worst way to spend 6 million. And you get a big dumb idiot who will satiate some of the meatheads bloodlust.
Only works if they can come off the AA and Hossa money and get another veteran defender in the door though.
Seabrook has been pretty brutal but he still is a NHL player and certainly more so than a Jan Rutta or anyone they could bring up from Rockford.
There is a pretty big gap between the wildcard spot and where the Hawks are at right now. Just points wise it is getting near "win out" even though "mathematically" they are still in it.
I'd come off of Hartman (possibly use to dump Hossa dollars)
Make a decision on Gus or Kempny. I prefer Kempny but its probably splitting hairs. One of them needs to be flipped for futures or part of a Hossa dollar dump.
If they can get AA to waive then maybe that makes sense for a hockey trade rather than a pure dump. He could probably help out a team like the Devils or maybe the Penguins.
The cap could bump 5 million next year and if they get rid of the Hossa money it makes it a lot easier for them to fill in some gaps with veterans.
Still convinced Saad is injured and he should be sitting instead of playing. Which would also contribute to the #lotterytank plan.
The Blackhawks have officially switched divisions, along with the Wild, Avalanche, Ducks, and Flames. We will call this division the "8th-seed" division. Dallas, currently in the 1st wild-card position, could easily also join this division with a moderate losing streak. So could Los Angeles and/or San Jose, if the Ducks or Flames pass them in the Pacific. Basically, any team not in the top 3 spots in each of the Central and the Pacific, qualify for the 3rd Western Conference division. The interesting catch to the "8th-seed" division is that it is guaranteed to send its first place team to the playoffs.
Point being, I see a lot of the Sorority Sisters out here scoreboard watching the Jets, Preds, and St. Louis Blows, groaning about how they won again. It doesn't matter, we aren't catching them anyway. Our focus should be clear and simple: win the 8th seed division, which we are currently 5 points out of first place with 30-ish games remaining.

After I had watched Saad thru about 35 games I started thinking whether Stanbo might be able to flip him for UFA's Rick Nash or JVR or even underperforming Max Pacioretty.
Now, doubt any of those teams would consider that a good swap, that's how sh$tty #20 is playing.
