The good news is when Chicago next has a home playoff game in 2020 the Seabrook contract will only have 4 years left on it

I'm just curious, how did you feel about the Preds losing in the finals last year? I ask because we don't know that feeling... When we go to SCF's, we bring home the Cup and have a big parade.

His antigonistic antics are getting old. Had it been that sensative joke of a poster on the preds blog he would have had Jock Itch Rash banned or least suspended. Why this hasn't happened yet is unacceptable.
Due to my geographic location, a lot of people are surprised I'm a die hard Hawks fan, and they tell me how they Chicago is such a good team. I usually explain how I've always been a fan and I stress how I'm enjoying the ride while it lasts. I remember the bad years where the owners and management ran the team into the ground and this team has given us memories that many other fans don't get to experience.
It might be easier for me to swallow a season like this because I'm investing more time than money (I can't be a season ticket holder) but things can change quickly. A lot has gone wrong this season to bring the Hawks to where they are and many of the issues are compounding. I hope they don't get too drastic with the changes yet. - breadbag
As someone who lives in a non-hockey dominated area/market, people are surprised to find I know what Hockey is, let alone that I support the Hawks. Then of course there is the "oh you're a bandwagon supporter" jibes, and i have to rattle off my history to them.
I also don't have money invested in tickets and so on for the same reasons, but I concur about it being a good ride while it lasted, and look forward to the next one, which hopefully won't be too far away, without too many spedbumps along the way.
Changes are inevitable, and hopefully they are changes for the better, not just change for the sake of it.
The Hawks are NOT TRADING KANE! Also the Hawks cannot trade Crawford - no team will want his contract especially with his injury problems. Can we move on.
Saad looks to have zero confidence taking on defenders with the puck, and even less shooting the puck. This is hopefully as bad as he can be, he is only 25. Toews lacks explosion in his skating. There is no burst, no ability to beat defenders off the rush with speed, and combine that with his diminished strength down low and his puck handling/dekes going to crap.....he just isn't getting it done anywhere near the level the Hawks need him to. - EnzoD
When you look at Saad - traded for Panarin - and Hartman- 19 goals last year - on the 4th Line the Coaching staff better be looking in the mirror. Toews/Saad was obviously not working and just eroded Saad’s confidence. The Coaching staff doesn’t seem to put any responsibility on Toews to make other players better. Also they have moved Hartman up and down the line-up and in and out of the line-up so much he is ruined and afraid to make a mistake. The coaching this season has been ludicrous.
Toews is obviously weak as steamed Kale. He has no strength, no power. His off-ice preparation is obviously garbage. He isn’t old he has made himself old. Crosby looks strong, Kane looks strong - Toews looks like a weakling - that is his $10.5M choice.
There are a lot of die hard Hawks fan in western Canada i am one to we love the Hawks - ih1682

They missed the best window to trade AA last summer or the summer before. His value was never higher after Panarin and Kane made him look good on paper. His defensive game has been very over-rated and his play terribly inconsistent. I don't know if it still due to injury, but he still isn't a 2C on a cup winning team.
Basically all of the vets are lacking this season. People are playing favorites when they point the finger at one guy and not the others. The only 2 million dollars plus players who haven't been letting the team down are Murphy and Crawford.
Toews, Kane, Saad, AA, Keith, Seabrook. You can poke holes in all of their performance this season. We've got a top line that is offensively inconsistent and slumps for stretch. A 2nd line that lacks majorly in defensive awareness and effort. A 3rd line that is decent but inexperienced. Then the 4th line is just whomever is in the doghouse or lacks in talent.
The top dogs on D have been bad on the PP and generally meh offensively. The young guys who can provide some offense on the blueline are making mistakes defensively. Not a lot of guys on this roster that are having a great season in all 3 zones. - breadbag
I was begging for an AA trade last summer. Made no sense to me at all that he wasn’t moved. Every year he misses a chunk of games. The point of reference with him is when he is out it makes no difference. The Hawks are actually better, faster when he is out. He is an anvil for Kane. He is simply too slow.

I would add to this:
Although you desire to have a large size center like AA, and while they have worked togetherl to garner points, now is the time to trade his too high salary and too high age given the direction this team going. Bowman really needs to bring in a younger large size center. This new center may arrive via draft or trade. Would help a lot if the new guy is proficient face offs and can handle some rough and tumble play.

If Martin Hanzal got a 1st round pick, Anisimov is worth at least that at the deadline. Having another 1st round pick in a supposedly deep draft may allow Stan to take a chance on a power forward late round 1. Lots of risk with big guys outside the top 15 as they usually can't skate well enough to play at the next level. The big, skilled, and plus skating power players go top
15 usually. I'm expecting a 5-10 pick that they can use on one of a few larger 200ft Dmen. A late first acquired via deadline trade and maybe there's a big center or big winger to play with Kane and Schmaltz down the line.

1992 phoned ... they want their reality back. Face it -Chicago knows that 'thanks for playing' feeling too. More than just that season too for that matter -to be fair.

Minimal movement before TDL. Maybe AA if someone is willing to overpay. Other than that just fringe players moved for next to nothing in return.
Sikura signs and finishes season with the Hawks.
Hawks narrowly miss playoffs.
Bowman, Q, Kane, Toews, Seabs, Keith, Crow, Saad all come back next season.
Duclair, Hartman, Jurco, Wingels, Hino, Rutta, Gustafsson and in a surprise Kempny all re-sign with the Hawks.
Just like Schmaltz and Hino improved quite a bit this year after an uneven season the previous season most of the Dcorp comes back and improves next year.
If they move AA they use his salary in the off season to add a veteran 2nd pairing dman.
If they stay relatively healthy next year they improve marginally and just make the playoffs.

Handzal was a pending UFA. Unless the player carries a bargain salary, remaining years drives the price down at the TDL.

This team has enough big slow guys on defense & forwards
Today's game is about fast skilled players
Ones that play hard every shift ie. Barzal Eberle & anyone on Vegas or even Hionstroza
Can't leave the ice to check, no head shots, no cross checking, no holding, no hooking, basically can't touch anyone without a penalty so not much need for tough guys or grinders
Today the 4th lines needs to produce points
Pretty simple
Need to let go of your pipe dream of Brady Tkachuk he will be gone in top 3 picks next draft
Trade deadline coming up so keep your phone on you might be traded

It would be fun to all go troll him on the Preds board, since they have like all of 3 fans on HB you know he'll see our posts.
The only way this team gets a player with term is if they give up a formidable asset. Guys like Bouma, Wingels and Kempny aren't worth diddly. They are 4th liners and a 7th defenceman who will probably be scratched in the playoffs. If they want to shake things up then it's guys like Anisimov and Hartman that will bring in the pieces. Keith has a lot of hockey left but is in decline. He would be a huge get for any playoff team and would bring in a huge reward considering his contract and leadership. Stay ahead of the curve Stan...unlike the others.

Nah, he plays free safety so Kane and who ever is on that other side can run around all over the place.
Its also an automatic 40 points which has a fair amount of value. He is a north south, win board battles, do nothing flashy, do nothing real dumb, fundamental hockey player. Was the perfect compliment for Kane and Panarin, was having a career year between Schmalz and Kane before injury.
He's not that bad.
All up and down the line up - gap coverage, yielding the blue line and poor coverage from the wing players have caused a lot of defensive problems. Lot of new faces in a lot of important positions.
A proper off season and the coaching staff \ management deciding on an identity for this team would go a long way to sorting some of the issues out.
