Protects the puck well, Good on the forecheck, good on the breakout, physical. Played a vital role in winning a Stanley cup. What’s trash about him? - Grinder47

I don't think Rowney is trash.
The issue with the 4th line is you have three players you should only have one of all on the same line.

In 211 minutes of 5v5 hockey, Rowney and his linemates have generated 4 goals for and have allowed 12 goals against. I understand he plays with Reaves and Kuhn, who both suck, but that is bad. He shouldn't be in the show. |

I dont think he's that bad. He's pretty good at keeping puck deep and cycling. Excellent PKer. I could kinda say the same things about Khun...neither are that bad, neither are that good. They're totally fine for the 4th line with PK duties...its Reaves thats the anchor on that line and when you add to the fact hes not killing penalties at all, he shouldn't be dressed most nights.
EDIT: Also have to keep in mind how much time Rowney has missed. Its hard joining in on a team thats in mid season form when you've barely played for a while. |

Absolutely. To me Rowney can be a 12th-13th forward on this team easily. |

I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but I remember him looking much better next to Cullen when he was in less if a position to drive offense, which he shouldn’t be in charge of.
Look, I’m not trying to argue him as 4th liner of the year, but I think he’s fine as an NHL 4th liner is he’s the complimentary player to that whole line. |

Kuhnhackl and Rowney are fine 12th and 13th forwards. Cheap options.
I still can't believe we gave Hunwick above U$2M/per..... |

Oh I agree, it's not just Rowney that sucks, it's that whole 4th line that is trash. There is a reason they play 6 minutes a night, if that. I'm also aware they aren't the Pens biggest problems, but they still suck. |

I think Rowney looked better at wing, but of course playing with Cullen could help.
All 3 of them are guys you'd like to upgrade on, but any by themselves could be a 12th or 13th forward. |

As many of us have said, you can have one of those guys in the lineup without it being too much of a negative. Every team has roll players that don't score a lot. It becomes a big problem when you you have 3 of them. Rowney, Reaves and Kuhnhackl is literally one of the worst lines in the entire league. They get dominated.
It's hard for me to reconcile a two time cup champion putting any of these players on the ice when a player like Sprong is sitting in the minors. Sprong should be playing when two top 6 forwards are hurt.

Yeah, that's where I stand. 1 on the line isn't bad but having all 3 form a 4th line is horrendous. When everyone was healthy and Rust was playing on the 4th line, the team looked so much better. |

I’m also wondering if RW has it in him to muster up a piece on Flower that isn’t just a graph showing when he played good or bad. Character like MAF is being driven out of the league as a result of the anti violence/fun American influence on hockey. Pretty soon it will all be robot hockey players out there who played college. |

I don’t mind our fourth line. Reaves just being on the bench makes our superstars feel better. Kuhnhackl and Rowney play just fine. Pens are playing better and it’s tome to female dog about the fourth line. |

I don't think they played together much. I think Rowney and Wilson came in and Kuhnhackl was benched and never returned in the playoffs. |

I would assume it’s for Sprongs own good. Pens aren’t desperate enough right now to f up his developement. Sprong looks like a fish out of water in the nhl except when he’s put into a scoring opportunity by one of his line mates. Even playing with Sid that could only happen maybe 3 times a game. |

Kuhnhackl on the 2nd line with Sprong in the minors bothers me more then the Kuhnhackl-Rowney-Reaves line. I agree, if ZAR wasn't called up for a top 9 shot they should have went to Sprong. I thought he was just a victim of the numbers game, but clearly not now. |

That's true. Rowney wasn't playing center either. Kuhnhackl only played 11 playoff games while Rowney played 20 at RW. Rowney only played 27 regular season games.
As you say they weren't in the lineup together a lot, but beyond that, Rowney wasn't playing center when he was. He's simply not capable of playing center in the NHL. Vegas is fast and tenacious. Those two traits kill players like Rowney, Reaves and Kuhnhackl. I see the bench being shortened very early tonight. |
