Sure but he can improve those areas at the NHL level too.
It's the same dumb argument about moving guys who play C to the wing for the first little while at the NHL level.
You don't learn to play C by playing LW, and you don't learn to play at the NHL level by playing in the AHL.
If they can play in the NHL then let them, because keeping your talented players in the AHL while scrubs play in the big leagues is bad for everyone. - PepinoPamplemousse
Keeping a guy in the AHL too long isn't a good thing, but learning the pro game before going into the spotlight on an NHL roster is. Don't get me wrong, Alex is having a nice rookie season in terms of his goal scoring. He is not a top 6 winger on a cup contending team. Not yet anyway. I don't think it is a huge issue either way, because he is a smart player.
I honestly cannot believe how much you and I are agreeing on things right now. - PepinoPamplemousse
Meant to ask you...what are your thoughts on the Hurricanes new owner?
Guy rules. I like that he's embracing the past with the Whalers and selling their merchandise at the stadium--hopefully we get to see the sweaters on the ice again because I know that's one of his plans.
Cool that he opened up the lower bowl to people and has offered his suite up, too.
Was reading he want to put a huge jumbo-tron in, too.
The AHL is used as a transition to the pace and size of the NHL from juniors. ADB has clearly not been majorly impacted by those things, so the AHL isn't going to do much for him. - JRoenick97
Yep.
Seems to me that he's not overwhelmed at the NHL level by any stretch.

Really excited. He seems to want everything and want it right now.
One big change he's implemented right away is a relationship with the local Universities. The Hurricanes Analytics department is working with UNC, NC State and Duke on a variety of different experiments to try and find an edge, and Dundon is working with Wake Forest on a joint practice facility for the college and the Canes.
I think, if he has his way and things work the way he thinks they will, he's going to really shake up the way a lot of NHL teams do business.
He's golfing at the Pro-Am at Pebble Beach this weekend with Hunter Mahan, Will Zalatoris and Tony Romo.
Murph could score a hattrick, but if he has a bad turnover he'd have a seat in the doghouse - BlazinMike
Murphy was acquired in a trade that cost Q Hjalmarsson. Murphy needs to be held accountable and appropriately punished. I don't blame Q for not trusting somebody involved in such a dubious transaction.

I'm not saying he is having a bad rookie season (or a bad season in general), but having a guy in the AHL allows him to learn the game better before making the jump. I do still think the ideal situation for him would have been to spend a year in the AHL learning before being in the NHL. He is scoring goals, but some of the rookie mistakes could have been ironed out. The Hawks success has them lacking depth, so they need him playing in the NHL, but in an ideal world, they would have let him develop and get some pro experience first.
Again, I'm not complaining that he can score goals, but he isn't a complete 200 foot player yet. A big issue with the Hawks right now is lacking guys up front and on the blueline that are solid in all 3 zones and have NHL experience. - breadbag
Q has actually made the point all season that DeBrincat buys in defensively. There may be room for improvement but he works on the ice.

I'm not disputing that at all and back to my original comment. It would have been nice if the Hawks had the luxury of letting him get a year under his belt in the AHL.
I'm not saying he sucks and they have to demote him, but if the team had more depth and was doing well enough in the standings, giving him a year to improve his skating, strength, positioning in the AHL wouldn't have hurt him.

I get what you're saying. If this was the 2010/2013/2015 stanley cup winning side, D'Cat possibly spends a year in the AHL honing his craft and comes out of it a better player. But that would be a luxury with todays team

We've seen this movie before... its called Norm Green and the Minnesota North Stars.
Back in 1990, Green bought the N.Stars from the Gund brothers, and gave away all sorts of perks, ticket upgrades, promotions, etc.... promised a better product on the ice - we all remember the 1991 last place N.Stars upsetting the Blackhawks in the first round that year - and promised the fans that the team would stay in Minnesota, even if it meant leaving the Met Center in Bloomington and moving to the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis or to the old Civic Center in downtown St. Paul. Fans bought into his garbage, and 2 years later, the North Stars became the Dallas Stars.
Hate to break it to you, but the Hurricanes are gone from Raleigh within 5 years.

Ummm ok. He can’t control who is following. He can only block people if they say dumb poop. See the key is to not say dumb poop to get blocked by people. You may not be smart enough to know that.
You know I've suffered through so many years of bad gm's and coaches for the Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks and here we are a season where things become unglued and everyone wants to fire everyone, a little patience would go a long way.
