2-6-2 in the last 10 when they needed a push for the playoffs.
I really hope there is some sort of plan and that this season was a hope for the best and expect the worst kind of situation. This team just looks defeated from the get go every game right now. - hawkitect
There was a plan going into this season after getting mutilated by NSH in the playoffs. Get bigger, younger and faster with the bottom line providing push back. Hayden-Wingels-Bouma provided that but the plan was ditched 25 games in.
I hope for any plan next yr that GM and coach agree upon otherwise the GM spends the offseason getting players to fit a plan that the coach ain't gonna use. |

Q is owed something like $12M next year... really doubt that the hawks swallow that kind of money. - jt19
I wonder what missing playoff home games costs Rocky not to mention season ticket holders who drop out? Not disagreeing with you just asking.
Shovel face raising prices so heavily, my ticket was 27 bucks in 2007/08 and is 80 bucks today, is a detriment as well.

Hawks cannot win because they play dumb, reckless hockey. First 3 goals against on 3 grade A give-always. Gave the game away - again! Get the puck out of your zone - get it into the other zone. It is that simple. It was sickening to say “what was Duclair doing?” followed by “what was Oesterle doing?” followed by “what the f was Keith doing dancing around in a circle with 10 seconds left refusing to dump the puck in?” The Hawks make you want to scream right now. On the Duclair goal could he have been any more selfish? On the Oesterle goal could he have played any weaker? On the Keith goal could he have been any dumber?
Don’t understand the lines. What is Kane supposed to do playing with Anisimov and Hartman? What kind of line is that? An insane one that’s what. Absolutely nothing 5 on 5. Why can’t DeBrincat play with Kane? The Hawks need Kane to score - a lot but he cannot do it himself. Sit Saad out altogether if you are not going to give him any chance to turn it around. What has happened to the Saad that started the season? Make Duclair prove himself down the line-up.
Time to have Oesterle, Forsling and Rutta ALL at Rockford. It has been an ongoing horror story watching them.
Time for AA to be down the line-up.
My head is going to explode if write any more. - Z3Hawk
That's called running around and that happens when there is little to no familiarity/chemistry which leads to structural breakdowns which leads to numerous odd mans against which leads to losses, ugly ones.
Rocket ship speed can't defend crisp clean passing but structure can.

Forsberg should have had it, but - Another o-zone blue line TO leading to a goal.
Take care of the puck. - StLBravesFan
took another look at goal (FWIW...really nothing)...but that was another one of those deflections risers off of keith's stick...not much could do with that high heat...barely missed the cross bar... |

Wow, this team is so bad. I really do not know where to begin. How bout getting a real hockey presence in here instead of a marketing guy. Rocky, please get rid of John McD and bring in some hockey people. The Maple Leafs are a great example.
I hope that Rocky realizes that the party is over and that the renewals are not going to be there next year. Who is going to pony money up for playoff tickets? I assume know one will. - TJYTJY
Post of the yr for me. A coach and GM having a different vision just can't work. The fix for this organIzation is off the ice not on.

Don't fix anything right now. Last thing we need is a new player or coach to put us on a meaningless winning streak late in the season.
Watch us get humiliated by Arizona in a few days. That could be the last straw. |

Johns is a beast. What a (frank)ing brutal trade. He would be the Hawks' #1 RD today.... - EnzoD
Enzo c'mon man we all know this part of Stan's summer of suck tour 2015...instead of moving Sharp for picks he completely craps the bed and gets taken to the shed by Nil. Here take my garbage and no cap space please and give me a nice young physical dman as well.
After viewing tonight anyone wondering why Q continues to play Glass?
You gotta pray Bowman doesn't really screw up and hand Saad to the Habs. He already gave them Shaw and Danault.
Meanwhile the dmen Stan has brought in are questionable at best. Interesting article by Laz on Murphy, but you have to wonder where this team would be if they still had Hammer and Panarin this season?
For those wondering if McD sees this he can't he's blinded by his man crush on Scotty to do anything about Stan.

basically 4 strt 1 goal losses after scoring 1st goal...
good teams and the hawks of old find ways to finish and win those...bad teams and this years hawk version find ways to lose them...
the season in microcosm last night..
1. turnovers cost em on all three goals
2. late period GA
3. wingles hits the post with 90% of the net 5 feet away
4. Toews blows a tire on open net tip
some night its puck managment, some nights its the pp, some nights its disinterest... |

We've seen this movie before... its called Norm Green and the Minnesota North Stars.
Back in 1990, Green bought the N.Stars from the Gund brothers, and gave away all sorts of perks, ticket upgrades, promotions, etc.... promised a better product on the ice - we all remember the 1991 last place N.Stars upsetting the Blackhawks in the first round that year - and promised the fans that the team would stay in Minnesota, even if it meant leaving the Met Center in Bloomington and moving to the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis or to the old Civic Center in downtown St. Paul. Fans bought into his garbage, and 2 years later, the North Stars became the Dallas Stars.
Hate to break it to you, but the Hurricanes are gone from Raleigh within 5 years.
- Katana777
Well, they have a lease that runs for another 7 years, and as a condition of the deal the NHL made him sign an agreement that he could not apply to move the team for at least 7 seasons, so........... Probably have 7 years, I would guess. |

It would be so key to get a top 5 pick this year. If Sikura turns out to be legit and we can add an impact player in the top 5 of the draft, next year could be a big improvement over this season. - EnzoD
A lot of people hoping Sikura is the real deal. That would mean a lot.
Expecting a draft pick, even a top 5 pick, to contribute next year is a lot to expect.
They probably will try to sign a dman to play in either the 1st or 2nd pairing.
The big improvement has to come from within, especially on defense. Whomever they decide to keep needs to make a major improvement (Rutta, Murphy, Forsling, Gus, Oesterle, Kempny).
The core will look a lot better if the supporting cast plays a lot better.
Of course a healthy Crow is a must.

A rough estimate, but each playoff home game is worth about $2-$3M to the Blackhawks...the actual gross is higher and the NHL takes 35% of the playoff gate for revenue sharing purposes. |

The plays I described are plays outside any structure. The players involved simply did not make the smart plays or needed plays. These avoidable turnovers were personal to the players.

Terrible spacing by Keith on goal 3. Stay on your freekin side 2 and get that stick in the right position to deflect that shot out of play. No reason to be cheating to the other side. Late getting back over caused the goal......but Forsberg brutal period as well. - Hawkytalk
He virtually turned a 3-on- 2 into a 3-on-1. As I play developed I felt it looked more dangerous than it should have been, and seconds later it is in the net. Bad turnover at the blue line just seconds before with only about 13 seconds left in the period. If he had just put it deep, puck would have probably left the Stars’ zone before the period ended. |

Agreed that they all have to be on the same page. Thought the most obvious example of organizational disfinction was last year when the Rockford coach went public with his rants that the Hawks were hurting Rockford’s playoff chances by being guys up from the Hogs. Dude, your only job was to prepare your players so they would be effective when they were called up.
Most people on this board feel there is a disconnect between Bowman and Q. Maybe it’s not an open public spat, but it is clear — at least to me — that Bowman isn’t getting Q the types of players Q wants and Q is not pushing to use the players Howman gives him.
If these two aren’t completely aligned, then something has to be done to either get them on the same page of one or both of them have to move on. |

Ok. Seems to me symptoms of a larger problem that being a lack of structure evidenced by an alarming amount of odd mans against. ..... Can't disagree though that a lack of common sense hockey will hurt you eventually. Pucks out and pucks in is as elementary as the sport gets.
