Not really. Hossa's contract is already gone in LTIR land, so there's no real gain in losing it. - JRoenick97
it would allow the Hawks to use the money in the summer as opposed to having to wait until Day 1 to put him on LTIR and then sit on the money all season looking for rentals. lets be real, the money would have been nice to use right now if they were buyers at the deadline. it means nothing now b/c who are they going to land? this team needs to sell! |

Saad was not welded to Toews when he was first here. He was moved around. One line that was totally magical occurred in the play-offs one year namely Saad, Shaw and Kane. The Kings could not even touch the puck when this line was out there. - Z3Hawk
The Flames coulnd't touch the puck when Sharp-Hartman-Saad were out last night. |

I don't buy that anymore.
I want to, but I don't.
Like the dude, but I can't keep using that excuse for a $10.5 M man with little to no results. |

At least Lucic can bring big/nasty and some PP help. I really like Seabs, but damn he cant do much anything right now. This team is really stuck with these contracts to 19 and 7. |

I personally will disregard that list Justin, and it is great of Wiz to do all the research for all of the guys, but if it were me ,I am doing everything possible as far as wheeling in dealing to try to get a top three pick and grab Brady Tkachuk, We need that family Pedegree in the organization. If it was not for the Jets new ownership ,daddy would’ve been a Black Hawk .And And what angered Bill Wirtz The second time when Keith became available when the coyotes were having a sell off and Mr.Wirtz told Mike Smith to do whatever and get it done and he basically turned his ass at him, and That along with drafting to many Euro’s who sucked was one of the things that lead to Mike Smith’s dismissal. That’s how the St. Louis Blues came sailing right down the middle and landed him.Stan Bowman has to grow a set of balls like RyanPace did last spring when he drafted Mitch! Once again a lot of people have lost faith in Stan Bowman he will waste that pick and draft some 5 foot two little pigmye from overseas. This is one where I hope John McDonagh does his homework and tells Stanley this is who we want, get it done, or else! |

Lucic is going to fall off a cliff. Big and nasty doesn't mean much when you can't move. |

To really use the space, We will always need at least 2 guys we can send down that will be on the 1st game roster. And have a player that is on a PTO that will sign a one year deal. otherwise its very hard to use his space. IE open the morning at 20 bring up 2 guys from ROCK and sign a guy to a 1 year 2.5 contract like franson but better. |

As far as production for and against goes, gustafsson was our best D-man last night. He was out for 24 shots attempts (13 on net) for vs 12 (6 on net) against. no goals agianst. 15 scoring chances for, 4 against. 6 high danger shots for, and allowed 0. He was also not sheltered at all. 5 offensive zone, 5 neutral, and 4 defensive zone starts. |

move anisimov. find a taker for hossa's contract. find a team for seabrook.
again, all of a sort, there is 16-17M in cap space to go out and play with.
lets say nobody takes seabrook. anisimov and hossa clear up 10M - frafra
The problem with trying to move Hossa's contract is no team in the league needs to get to the cap floor anymore. They've all succeeded in either spending it or already having enough LTIR of their own to cover it. Secondly, Hawks would probably have to give up someone of value in order to move it. Just like to get out from under the Bickell contract TT was the price they paid. |

Saad isn't going anywhere when his value is so low and his upside is good at a reasonable cap hit. Friedman is a moron.

Artem Anisimov had a maintenance day, should be fine. Sounds like Jan Rutta is battling some sort of minor injury, and is up in the air for tomorrow. |

That seems interesting to take those first two lines into next year, and see what happens with trades to figure out lines 3 & 4. |

1. Look to unload as much cap as possible, and play with a skeleton crew of entry level guys and expiring UFAs next year, ending the season with as little cap hit as possible. Hopefully finishing in last place to get the top pick.

As someone who grew up in Western NY, and who's siblings are all Sabres fans, not so sure tanking for a high draft pick will result in success. |

Make DBC be the Panarin for Kane and hope it jump starts Toews.
Saad/Duclair can push their speed and control the puck and all can score. It seems like it could be a good top 2 lines with puck possession/scoring.
And agree... the bottom 6 shakes out with trades/prospects/FA. I think we need to move/not bring back AA/Sharp/Bouma. Uncertain about Wingles, but if he can bring back a pick, I'm OK with it. |

Tanking is embarrassing in my opinion.
Great documentary on the Pens tanking to get Mario and all the outrageous stuff they did to do it: signing guys who couldn't skate backwards, putting in men's league goalies, etc.
There's a number of times they talk to players at the time and they say how soft it is/was to tank.
Players want to win. Front office wants to lose. |
